Buyer II – Materials & Indirect Spend
Supports the Indirect Spend Purchasing Manager in procuring raw materials, packaging, and MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) items. Responsible for assigned categories to ensure continuity of supply, inventory optimization, supplier performance, and cost effectiveness. Serves as a mentor to Associate Buyers and helps drive purchasing strategy and process improvements.
Core Responsibilities
Owns assigned procurement categories, ensuring quality, cost, delivery, inventory, and supplier performance meet business objectives.
Plans inventory levels to support manufacturing needs while maintaining optimal days of supply.
Collaborates with Product Development, Manufacturing, Planning, Receiving, Maintenance, and Finance to resolve issues and improve processes.
Sources materials and suppliers and supports supplier qualification efforts.
Manages supplier communication regarding pricing, availability, lead times, specifications, and delivery schedules.
Evaluates suppliers based on cost, quality, delivery, service, and overall value.
Monitors supplier performance and ensures compliance with company expectations and contractual requirements.
Serves as the category expert for assigned raw materials, packaging, and MRO commodities by monitoring market conditions and pricing trends.
Maintains material and purchasing data in SAP and leads improvements that increase efficiency and accuracy.
Identifies and implements purchasing process improvements that enhance operational performance.
Mentors Associate Buyers and supports the development of team members.
Participates in cross-functional projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Preferred Experience / Education
Bachelor's degree preferred.
3-5 years of purchasing, procurement, sourcing, or supply chain experience.
Experience procuring raw materials, packaging, and/or MRO items preferred.
Supplier negotiation and strategic sourcing experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
ERP experience required; SAP preferred.
Experience leading process improvement initiatives.
