Overview:

LPN – Emergency Department | Level I Trauma Center

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring full-time Licensed Practical Nurses for our Emergency Department, home to Hampton Roads’ only Level I Trauma Center. This is an opportunity to join a high-performing emergency nursing team where clinical skill, teamwork, and purpose come together to make an immediate impact for patients and families across the region.

Location: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital – Norfolk, VA

Position Status: Full-time, 36 hours per week

Shift: hiring for multiple openings, all shifts available

Day shift, 7:00 am - 7:00 pm

Second shift, 1:00 pm - 1:00 am

Night shift, 7:00 pm - 7:00 am

Weekends: Every other weekend availability required

Holiday Rotation: Required

Our 53-bed Emergency Department is equipped to manage a wide range of medical emergencies, with approximately 10% of cases related to trauma.

As part of a Level I Trauma Center, you will work alongside experienced emergency medicine providers, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver timely, high-quality care when patients need it most. Nurses in this department gain exposure to complex emergency, trauma, cardiac, stroke, critical care, and specialty cases while building advanced clinical skills in a collaborative environment.

Sentara Norfolk General Emergency Department has been recognized with the Emergency Nurses Association Lantern Award, honoring exceptional and innovative leadership, practice, education, advocacy, and research.

Education Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Licensed Practical Nursing required

Certification/Licensure Requirements

• LPN license required

Experience Requirements

• Prior LPN experience preferred

• Emergency Department experience preferred

• Strong candidates with related acute care, critical care, intermediate care, trauma, cardiac, stroke, or med/surg experience are encouraged to apply
