Our mission is to create long-term value for all stakeholders. Our culture encourages individuals to generate, develop and implement ideas which will strengthen our business. Belonging, respect, integrity, conviction and entrepreneurship are our core values. As our brand recognition grows, we are fast becoming an employer of choice in our sector. We have over £30 billion in funds under management and circa 700 staff.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Leadership and Strategy
- Define and lead the QA approach, automation strategy and quality objectives for assigned products, initiatives and releases, aligned to delivery priorities and risk.
- Champion a risk-based, shift-left quality culture; ensure test planning starts early, and requirements, acceptance criteria and technical designs are complete, testable and traceable.
- Establish and evolve QA standards, test design practices, automation principles, quality gates and reporting, ensuring they are applied consistently.
- Provide clear recommendations on test scope, residual risk, release readiness and quality trade-offs to the QA Manager and delivery stakeholders.
Test Planning, Design and Execution
- Lead the analysis of requirements, specifications and technical designs; actively participate in three-amigos sessions and agile ceremonies.
- Produce and assure comprehensive test plans covering manual, automated, functional and non-functional testing as appropriate.
- Design, review and maintain high-quality test cases, test data and test scripts in the agreed test-management tool, ensuring end-to-end traceability to requirements and defects.
- Lead hands-on execution of system, integration, regression, smoke, exploratory and acceptance testing across web, mobile and API-based applications.
- Coordinate test activities across releases and dependencies; manage test environments, test data and blockers in partnership with engineering and DevOps teams.
Automation and Engineering Excellence
- Own and implement the team’s test automation strategy for assigned products, building and scaling the automation framework and prioritising high-value and business-critical coverage.
- Evaluate, introduce and embed AI-assisted testing tools (for example test-case and script generation, self-healing automation, synthetic test data and defect analysis) to speed up testing, extend coverage and reduce manual effort, ensuring AI-generated outputs are reviewed, validated and used responsibly.
- Design, develop, review and maintain robust automated tests and reusable test utilities using appropriate frameworks and coding standards.
- Work with DevOps and engineers to embed automated tests, quality gates and actionable reporting into CI/CD pipelines.
- Diagnose complex failures and defects; lead effective triage, support root-cause analysis and verify fixes.
People, Collaboration and Continuous Improvement
- Provide technical leadership, coaching, peer reviews and day-to-day guidance to QA engineers; support capability development and consistent ways of working.
- Partner with developers, product managers, architects and stakeholders to resolve quality risks and improve product usability, performance and resilience.
- Drive measurable improvements to QA processes, test efficiency, automation coverage, defect prevention and quality metrics.
Reporting and Governance
- Produce and present concise test status reports, including coverage, execution progress, defect trends, risks, dependencies and release recommendations.
Maintain auditable testing documentation, evidence and defect records in line with agreed processes.
Requirements
Key Skills and Technical Requirements:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- ISTQB Advanced, Test Automation Engineer, Test Manager or comparable QA certification is desirable.
Experience

- Strong test automation background, with proven experience defining and implementing a test automation strategy, building automation frameworks and scaling reliable automated coverage across products.
- Practical, hands-on experience leveraging AI-assisted tools to speed up testing — for example generating test cases, authoring and maintaining automated scripts, creating test data and accelerating defect triage.
- Demonstrated experience leading QA activities for complex products or multiple concurrent deliveries, including test strategy, release readiness and stakeholder reporting.
- Proven ability to coach QA engineers, conduct peer reviews and raise engineering and quality standards without direct line-management responsibility.
- Strong experience of smoke, regression, system integration, functional, exploratory and non-functional testing, with a risk-based approach.

- Advanced proficiency with test-management and defect-tracking tools (e.g. Xray, TestRail and Jira).
- Strong hands-on experience with automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress or Selenium, and with API testing tools such as Postman, Swagger or SoapUI.
- Hands-on experience using AI-assisted testing and coding tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot or AI features embedded in modern test platforms) to accelerate test creation, maintenance and analysis, with sound judgement on where AI adds value.
- Proficiency in TypeScript, Python or C# for test automation; ability to review automated-test code and promote maintainable engineering practices.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), test-environment management and quality gates.
- Working knowledge of SQL and database testing, plus web, mobile and API testing.
