Description
RenaissanceRe is a leading writer of Property & Casualty Reinsurance. For over 25 years, we have helped customers and communities recover and build resilience through our industry-leading ability to understand risk, source efficient capital and rapidly pay claims.
Our global team shares a passion for solving our customers’ biggest problems through a collaborative and entrepreneurial culture that empowers employees and rewards creative thinking.
About RenaissanceRe
RenaissanceRe was founded in Bermuda in 1993, the year after Hurricane Andrew caused damage far beyond what anyone had modeled as a worst case.
Three decades on, we write $11.7 billion of gross premiums a year.
What is Reinsurance?
Insurance companies need insurance too. When a hurricane, an earthquake or a cyberattack produces more claims than one insurer can absorb, reinsurers like us take on part of that risk.
We cover portfolios of risk rather than individual policies, so we deal in a small number of very large losses. That is what makes the work analytical: we price risks that have not happened yet.
