Job Summary

The Clinical Application Specialist will serve in the implementation and ongoing support of multi-service clinical software applications used for all Health Systems Departments. The Clinical Application Specialist supports the daily interface between all Health Systems staff and the electronic health record (EHR). The duties involve consults with the ancillary, Health Information Management Systems (HIMS) and Information Technology (IT) staff, and maintaining ongoing communication with technical support for EHR optimization. The Clinical Application Specialist will provide training to integrated care team staff to assure protocols, grant guidelines, policies and procedures, and will work closely with the quality assurance and process improvement staff and program initiatives across the Health System.

Essential Functions

• Utilizes the Dene' Model of Care and health care management tools to support providers in delivering optimal care across all Health System Departments
• Assures quality health system measures and inform development of optimization tools
• Coordinates installation, maintenance, recommendation of product applications
• Provides onboarding training to staff within all Health Systems Departments
• Conducts system testing and implementation
• Coordinates process issue identification and improvement initiatives
• Documents processes and outcomes to support Health Systems standards
• Maintains and reports data for quality improvement
• Ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies and TERO ordinance

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in health sciences, information technology or related field; a combination of experience may be substituted for a degree

Experience

• Five (5) years' experience in managing clinical applications
• Experience with managing data in clinical practice setting

Preferred

• Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Alaska preferred

License/Certification

• Valid Alaska driver license and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy, or obtain within 90 days of hire
• Basic Life Support certification required, or obtain within 90 days of hire

Special Skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, or obtain training within 90 days of hire
