About The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to help build and scale the production of our Infinite Kitchen suite of products. The Wonder Robotics Manufacturing team turns our innovative designs into reliable, scalable restaurant equipment through strong assembly processes, disciplined change control, and close partnership with our contract manufacturers. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will contribute to these outcomes by supporting day-to-day assembly operations at our contract manufacturing facility in Westborough, MA, resolving build issues quickly, improving how our equipment is assembled and tested, and feeding manufacturing insight back to our design engineers. This work ultimately supports every Infinite Kitchen we deploy, and the automation that helps us serve customers perfect meals at scale. Your contributions will help Wonder Robotics continue to innovate and grow.
The Impact You Will Make
You will support all of Wonder’s manufacturing operations for the Infinite Kitchen suite of products, primarily onsite at the contract manufacturing (assembly) facility in Westborough, MA.
- Provide engineering support as-needed to execute design changes, deviations, and reworks, to resolve manufacturing issues and clear blockers to our production schedule.
- Initiate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
- Execute revisions and create redlines to part and assembly drawings, and implement edits as-needed to 3D and 2D CAD files.
- Work with key stakeholders at contract manufacturers to ensure that the planning of procurement and assembly activities supports Wonder’s business needs.
- Improve the assembly process for our products:
- You will have ownership to propose, test, and implement assembly process changes that improve the throughput and reliability of Wonder Robotics manufacturing.
- You will design, prototype, and implement mechanical jigs and fixtures to achieve the above.
- Work with stakeholders in quality engineering to define requirements and processes for incoming material inspection.
- Support component-level Design For Manufacture (DFM) efforts by proposing changes to the Design Engineering Team and supporting validation and implementation.
What You Bring to the Table
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in hardware R&D or manufacturing, and at least 2 years as a Manufacturing Engineer with an emphasis on the assembly and testing of complex, large-format industrial equipment.
- Extensive knowledge of industry standard instruments and practices used to inspect mechanical components.
- Extensive familiarity with commonly used fabrication processes including CNC Machining, Injection Molding, Sheet Metal fabrication, Wire/Cable, Welding, Casting, Printed Circuit Board fabrication and assembly.
- Extensive familiarity with enterprise product change management tools (PDM & PLM), and industry-standard change control (ECO) processes.
- Proficiency with mechanical CAD software tools, Solidworks preferred.
- Familiarity with standards of mechanical documentation including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing per ASME Y14.5.
- Meticulous attention to detail and and ability to create and maintain polished documentation.
This role 5 days a week in-person based both at our Boston-area contract manufacturing location and in our Charlestown office depending on project-specific needs.
