Team Lead Architectural Engineering – Preparation & Development

Your Role

Help shape the future of Europe's largest fitness chain! Within our International Property & Construction department, our daily business is much closer to that of a construction and development company than a traditional fitness organization. We develop, design and build clubs across Europe, with a strong focus on efficiency, standardization and continuous improvement.

As Team Lead Architectural Engineering, you'll lead our Preparation & Development team of six designers and engineers. Together, you're responsible for the architectural and technical preparation of new clubs, rebuilds and acquisitions, and for the further development of our club standards. You'll work in an international environment with different projects and challenges, and you'll have the freedom to organize your team and bring your own ideas. That way, you make a real difference in how we prepare and develop our clubs across Europe.

Your tasks:

• Team leadership & development 
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of six architectural designers and engineers with different levels of experience. 
  • Set clear priorities, divide responsibilities and manage the team's workload. 
  • Encourage ownership and support your team in making technical decisions independently. 
  • Help team members develop their skills and grow in their roles. 
  • Create a positive working environment where people work together, share knowledge and take responsibility. 

•  Technical preparation & development 
  • Guide the team in preparing architectural layouts and technical documentation for new clubs, rebuilds and acquisitions. 
  • Ensure designs meet Basic-Fit standards, project requirements and applicable local regulations. 
  • Coordinate technical preparation and ensure projects are ready for execution. 
  • Work closely with the Execution team to ensure designs are practical, buildable and ready for construction. 
  • Identify technical risks and support the team in finding practical solutions. 
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve project challenges. 

•  Standards & continuous improvement 
  • Lead the further development and implementation of our architectural and technical standards across Europe. 
  • Work closely with BIM Engineers and other specialists to improve our design and engineering processes. 
  • Use feedback from construction projects and operations to improve future club designs. 
  • Help improve efficiency, quality and consistency in the way we prepare and build our clubs. 
  • Translate departmental priorities into practical improvements together with your team. 

Who are you?

You're a people-oriented leader with a solid technical background in architecture, engineering or construction. You genuinely enjoy managing people and helping them become better at what they do. You understand technical challenges, but don't feel the need to solve everything yourself. You're comfortable taking responsibility, setting priorities and making decisions, and you thrive in a fast-moving organization where plans sometimes change and not everything is defined in advance. You're practical, approachable and confident enough to challenge ideas when needed.

Additionally, we're looking for someone who has:

• A degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
• Proven experience managing, coaching and developing people in a technical environment.
• A solid understanding of architectural design, technical engineering and construction preparation.
• Strong planning, communication and organizational skills.
• The ability to set priorities, make decisions and work independently.
• Good communication skills in English. Dutch or another European language is a plus.
• Willingness to travel occasionally across our European markets.
• Experience in commercial, retail or international construction, and familiarity with BIM, Revit, AutoCAD or similar software, are an advantage.
