Operations Manager - recycling

Introduction:

 

A leading player in the recycling and waste management sector is seeking a highly experienced Operations Manager to take full ownership of national operational performance within its Waste Management division.

 

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role requiring deep operational, financial, and people management capability within asset-intensive, regulated environments. The role is suited to a commercially astute operations leader with a strong track record in driving efficiency, compliance, and service excellence.

What is Required

• Relevant Degree or Diploma
• Extensive management experience within Recycling, Waste Management, Manufacturing, or similar industries
• Strong financial and commercial acumen (non-negotiable)
• Working knowledge of EE, LRA, BCEA, OSH, and SHE legislation
• Proven ability to lead multi-site operational teams
• Project management experience
• Own transport

 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead national operations within the Waste Management division
• Drive efficiency, productivity, and customer service delivery
• Full accountability for operational budgets and cost control
• Develop and implement operational and strategic plans
• Lead, mentor, and manage regional management teams
• Ensure SHEQ, environmental, and labour law compliance
• Oversee equipment, fleet, and maintenance to minimise downtime
• Manage operational projects and continuous improvement initiatives
• Engage with customers, suppliers, and third-party service providers
• Manage IR matters in collaboration with HR

 

 

Remuneration

• Salary guideline: ±R1 million PA, based on negotiable based on experience and track record
