Introduction:
A leading player in the recycling and waste management sector is seeking a highly experienced Operations Manager to take full ownership of national operational performance within its Waste Management division.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership role requiring deep operational, financial, and people management capability within asset-intensive, regulated environments. The role is suited to a commercially astute operations leader with a strong track record in driving efficiency, compliance, and service excellence.

What is Required
- Relevant Degree or Diploma
- Extensive management experience within Recycling, Waste Management, Manufacturing, or similar industries
- Strong financial and commercial acumen (non-negotiable)
- Working knowledge of EE, LRA, BCEA, OSH, and SHE legislation
- Proven ability to lead multi-site operational teams
- Project management experience
- Own transport
Key Responsibilities
- Lead national operations within the Waste Management division
- Drive efficiency, productivity, and customer service delivery
- Full accountability for operational budgets and cost control
- Develop and implement operational and strategic plans
- Lead, mentor, and manage regional management teams
- Ensure SHEQ, environmental, and labour law compliance
- Oversee equipment, fleet, and maintenance to minimise downtime
- Manage operational projects and continuous improvement initiatives
- Engage with customers, suppliers, and third-party service providers
- Manage IR matters in collaboration with HR
Remuneration
- Salary guideline: ±R1 million PA, based on negotiable based on experience and track record
