The role
This position measures, tests, interprets and records data necessary to assist in the production of safe products that meet the company’s specifications.
What you'll be responsible for
- Gather samples and perform any required analyses.
- Interpret and record results accurately and in a timely manner.
- Audit various processes within the plant for compliance to standards.
- Prepare and maintain necessary reagents and solutions to complete analyses.
- Conduct SPC capability studies and calculate targets/limits for control charts.
- Maintain and file necessary records.
- PC data entry and reporting utilizing the following programs:
- SAP
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Outlook
- Provide data to other departments as needed.
- Maintain work area in acceptable condition at all times.
- Maintain attention to quality issues on all lines.
- Work cooperatively with other technicians to evenly share the workload.
- Other duties as assigned.
We're looking for someone who
- High School diploma or equivalent GED.
- Ability to read and follow written procedures.
- Basic understanding of GMP’s.
- Comprehension of basic mathematical concepts including algebra.
- Ability to learn required tests and procedures within a reasonable period of time, including PC applications.
- The ability to communicate with others, and the desire and willingness to work closely within a small group of individuals.
- Ability to navigate and use web-based programs such as BuildApp, Weever, Megamation, DFOS, SAP, Microsoft and SPC
- Two or four-year degree in Food Science or other related field preferred.
- Previous experience in Quality Control or Quality Assurance preferred.
Working environment
- Variable, consisting of the office environment, the mix room, and the manufacturing floor. Potential hazards include proximity of moving machinery, chemical exposure, or heavy lifting. The position may require an individual to stand, stoop, move equipment; bend, reach, or lift for prolonged periods of time. PPE includes safety glasses, hearing protection and sanitary footwear.
- In addition, there will be exposure to allergens such as dairy, eggs, tree nuts, coconut, peanuts, wheat (gluten), soybean and cinnamon. There will also be exposure to chemicals and gasses such as ammonia.
