Description
The City of Pasadena is currently seeking an industrious, committed, and skilled Engineering Technician to join the Public Works Department's team of professionals. Under general supervision, this position performs technical engineering duties in support of a variety of engineering design, construction, and maintenance engineering activities; and performs related duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess current knowledge and experience in engineering practices, construction, computer-aided drafting, and is AUTO-CAD and/or GIS proficient. This is an excellent career opportunity to work on varied types of work and activities throughout the City.

- Assists engineers with the preparation of engineering plans, specifications, cost estimates, exhibits, and construction documents for civil infrastructure improvement projects; prepares and revises engineering drawings using AutoCAD and related software.
- Conducts field investigations to verify existing conditions, collect measurements, and confirm the accuracy of survey data, engineering records, and plans; performs field inspections of streets, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, storm drains, utilities, and other public infrastructure assets.
- Responds to Citizen Service Center (CSC) requests; coordinates with Public Works Engineering staff and field maintenance crews to investigate and resolve reported issues; prepares written responses and case closure documentation.
- Prepares maps, exhibits, and drawings from survey data, field notes, aerial imagery, and engineering records.
- Assists in calculating grades, elevations, quantities, profiles, cross-sections, and other engineering computations.
- Maintains, organizes, and updates engineering drawings, records, project files, and electronic databases.
- Supports the development, maintenance, and integration of engineering information within GIS, AutoCAD, and related asset management systems.
- Researches engineering records and responds to inquiries from the public, contractors, utility companies, and other agencies regarding public works infrastructure and engineering information.
- Provides technical and construction administration support to project managers during the design and construction phases of public works projects.
- Assists with project tracking, permit review, utility coordination, and the preparation of reports, correspondence, presentations, exhibits, and other project-related documentation.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, supplemented by college-level course work in engineering technology, drafting, engineering mathematics or related fields and at least two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in performing sub-professional engineering duties.
Desirable Qualifications:
- An Associates or Bachelor's degree.
- Public Agency experience.
- GIS Certified
