Description
SUMMARY:
Under general supervision of the Hospital Attending Physician, in collaboration with clinical nursing staff, is responsible for evaluation of, and development of treatment plans. Assists in the care and management of patients to include, but not limited to, admission history and physical, ongoing assessment and intervention, coordination of care, and discharge planning. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Initiates patient status and participates in the development of a patient care management plan with the registered nurses and the attending physician.
- Provides educational and liaison support to health care team members. Obtains and records medical histories, performs and records physical examinations, records pertinent progress notes in the medical records, develops treatment and discharge plans, develops follow-up plans, and initiates life-saving measures in emergency situations until aid arrives.
- May assist in clinical research projects, including data acquisition, entry and analysis as needed.
- Participates in quality improvement teams, and other committees, as needed.
- Maintains quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control in accordance with established hospital department policies, procedures, and objectives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
- Graduate from a Nurse Practitioner program with MS degree. Certified by the American Nurses Association (ANA) or by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) to practice in the expanded role.
- License must include prescriptive privileges.
- Completion of a course in American Heart Association Basic Life Support.
EXPERIENCE:
- Prefer experience working with psychiatric patients in some capacity.
- Must have patient care services, procedures and privileges approved by the sponsoring physician.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
- None.
Pay Range:
