Description
- Provide security for the courthouse, courtrooms, and jury trials.
- Assist with inmate and detainee management, including the application of restraints when necessary.
- Serve as a jury attendant in accordance with established post orders and court procedures.
- Support full-time Court Security Officers in maintaining safe and secure court operations.
- Prepare reports, incident documentation, and other required records.
- Follow all Sheriff's Office policies, courtroom procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be available to work part-time, up to 29 hours per week, and be available for on-call assignments as needed.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within a designated timeframe.
- Valid Minnesota Driver's License.
- State and federal laws, courtroom procedures, and security protocols.
- Sheriff's Office policies and procedures.
- Safe inmate and detainee handling practices.
- Report writing standards and documentation procedures.
- Basic computer systems and office equipment used in court security operations.

- Maintaining security in a professional and courteous manner.
- Communicating effectively with judges, attorneys, court staff, law enforcement personnel, inmates, detainees, and the public.
- Observing, assessing, and responding appropriately to potentially hazardous situations.
- Preparing clear, accurate, and legible reports.
- Working independently while exercising sound judgment and discretion.
Physical Requirements
This position requires moderate to heavy physical exertion including:
- Lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds.
- Standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods.
- Assisting with the restraint and movement of inmates or detainees.
- Performing physical tasks requiring strength, coordination, and manual dexterity.
Additional Requirements
- Must possess a dependable work history.
- Must maintain a valid Minnesota Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
- Must successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States.
