Bartender - The Moxy San Diego Gaslamp

As our Bartender at Moxy San Diego Downtown/Gaslamp, you'll be the face of one of San Diego's most vibrant social spaces, creating memorable experiences for hotel guests and locals alike. Located in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter and just steps from Petco Park, Moxy is more than a hotel—it's a destination where great drinks, music, and genuine hospitality come together. You'll greet guests, recommend food and beverage offerings, prepare and serve cocktails and light bites, answer questions, and create an energetic, welcoming atmosphere. To succeed in this role, you should have an outgoing personality, thrive in a fast-paced environment, be attentive to guest needs, and have a strong knowledge of food, beverages, and responsible alcohol service.

Requirements

Job Requirements:

• Be readily available and approachable for all guests while always extending professionalism
• Know local health and safety codes and regulations that apply to the hotel
• Ensure the bar service space remains well-stocked at all times
• Receive beverage orders and directing these to the kitchen, as needed
• Cleaning and sanitizing table, countertops, and floors after each service
• Collect payment for all transactions or charge transactions to guest accounts according to the IHM policy
• Prepare and serve classic and innovative drinks while following all company, local, and state guidelines 
• Validate customers' IDs and monitor all beverage consumption in order to address severe intoxication

• Highly motivated team player with strong initiative and desire for achievement
• Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary
• Ability to work well in stressful situations
• Readily available and approachable for all guests while providing excellent guest service

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The number of hours you will be scheduled to work during the week is variable and is based on guest occupancy, season, staffing and other factors. Island Hospitality is unable to guarantee a specific number of work hours per week.
