Job Summary

The Manager, Specialty Programs, Meetings & Events leads a portfolio of client programs, meetings, and events while managing a team of project and meeting management professionals within the Gastroenterology & Rheumatology vertical of the Meetings & Events team. This role provides strategic oversight to ensure successful project delivery, exceptional client service, and consistent execution across programs. Operating with a broad view of the business, the Manager monitors portfolio performance, identifies risks and growth opportunities, serves as the primary escalation point for client and project issues, and partners with leadership and business development teams to drive client satisfaction and business growth.

The Manager also oversees the financial and operational performance of assigned accounts, including budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, vendor management, and financial reporting. Working closely with cross-functional partners across Finance, Legal, Compliance, and Operations, this role ensures projects are delivered in alignment with company policies and industry requirements. Additionally, the Manager provides leadership for the planning and execution of meetings, events, advisory boards, and other engagement initiatives, while supporting process improvement, resource management, and team development to achieve successful outcomes for clients, employees, and the organization.

Responsibilities

Portfolio, Client & Financial Management

  • Serve as the primary relationship lead and escalation point for assigned client accounts, ensuring exceptional service delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Provide strategic oversight of a portfolio of programs, meetings, and events, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, budget, and quality expectations.
  • Oversee project planning, implementation, and execution, including project kickoffs, status meetings, timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder communications.
  • Manage financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, vendor payments, and financial reporting.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, identify risks and opportunities, and implement solutions to support successful outcomes.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and compliance requirements, including applicable healthcare and pharmaceutical guidelines
  • Apply broad knowledge of compliance and industry best practices (e.g., PhRMA guidelines, digital marketing practices).

Business Unit–Level Meetings & Events Leadership

  • Provide oversight for the planning and execution of meetings, advisory boards, conferences, workshops, and other client and business-unit events.
  • Guide event strategy, agenda development, content planning, logistics, vendor management, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Partner with subject matter experts, Marketing, and other stakeholders to drive attendee engagement, event success, and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Ensure consistent execution standards and delivery of high-quality event experiences.

Team Leadership & Operational Excellence

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of project and meeting management professionals, fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture.
  • Establish and promote best practices, operational standards, and consistent project management processes across the team.
  • Partner with leadership to support resource planning, process improvements, and departmental initiatives.
  • Resolve operational and client-related issues, build alignment across stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement to enhance performance and customer experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience, preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in program management, project management, account management, meetings and events, operations, or related disciplines.
  • Previous experience within healthcare, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or highly regulated industries preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading client relationships, managing complex projects, budgets, and cross-functional teams.
  • Proven people leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring, and developing team members.
  • Strong business acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasting, financial reporting, and vendor relationships.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders, build consensus, and navigate ambiguity while driving results.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Salesforce and event management platforms preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to identify risks and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Location: This position is remote and can be based anywhere within the United States. Candidates must be able to work within EST or CST business hours.

Anticipated salary range: $106,700 - $150,000
