JOB SUMMARY

The Occupational Therapist provides rehabilitative services to patients with mental, physical, emotional, or developmental impairments.

This is a PRN position, with weekend hours required monthly.  Weekend differential for weekend hours!

THE DETAILS OF THE JOB

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Complete evaluation of clients' daily living skills and capacities to determine extent of abilities and limitations. 
• Plan and implement educational, vocational, and recreational programs and activities designed to restore, reinforce, and enhance task performances, diminish or correct pathology, and to promote and maintain health and self-sufficiency. 
• Design and adapt equipment and working-living environment. Fabricate splints and other assistant devices. 
• Instruct patient and family regarding in-home programs as well as care and use of adaptive equipment. 
• Prepare work materials, assist in maintenance of equipment, and order supplies. 
• Responsible for maintaining observed information in client records and preparing reports. 
• Teach basic living skills to institutionalized, or developmentally disabled adults. 
• Assist social worker or psychologist in administering situational or diagnostic tests to measure client's abilities or progress. 
• Meet the Company’s expectations as described in the VSON Policies and Practices.
• Maintain confidentiality of Personal Identifiable Information (PII) in accordance with company Policies and State and Federal laws, including OHSA and HIPAA regulations. 
• Perform job in accordance with all company safety practices.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Occupational Therapist Requirements:

• A bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from a university certified by the ACOTE (Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education) or AOTA (American -Occupational Therapy Association).
• Certified by the National Board for Certification.
• Compliant with state healthcare regulatory requirements.
• Possess up-to-date knowledge of treatment practices and physical therapy programs.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to take care of clients with different personalities.
• Comfortable using a computer for various tasks.
• Ability to assess patient conditions and work with treatment plans
