Bartender

Description

We are looking for a professional, high-energy bartender with excellent communication skills to serve tiki drinks, classical cocktails, and exciting new beverages to our customers. The bartender will greet customers, learn about their preferences, answer questions, recommend menu items, and prepare and serve beverages and food. S/he will also create recipes, utilize proper equipment and ingredients, and handle basic cleaning duties.

The successful candidate will have a neat appearance and engaging, friendly personality. S/he must have knowledge of craft/tiki bartending and/or ambition to learn this style of bartending. Since the bar features fresh-squeezed juices and home-made ingredients, the ability and desire juice and make ingredients daily is a must. 

• Welcome and greet customers with a pleasant demeanor.
• Listen to guests to determine beverage preferences and make recommendations.
• Take and memorize customer orders and deliver them in a timely fashion.
• Be extremely knowledgeable of menu offerings and inform customers about new beverages and specials.
• Check identification to ensure customers are the legal age to purchase alcohol.
• Help track inventory to ensure bar and tables are well-stocked.
• Adhere to all food safety and quality regulations.
• Handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, balance the cash register.
• Maintain a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification (preferred, but not required).
• Valid Food Handler Health Card.
• Positive, engaging personality, and professional appearance.
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong task and time management abilities.
• Eye for detail and understanding of drink mixing tools and techniques.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, etc. for extended periods, and lift up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment.
