Overview

As a Principal Linux Systems Administrator, you'll provide systems administration for classified programs in a heterogeneous environment of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Windows. You'll work with Linux fundamentals, Windows Server internals, Ansible, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, and AD replication methods. Responsibilities include troubleshooting complex technical problems, managing RAID and backup technologies, installing software applications, and collaborating with cybersecurity professionals. The role requires obtaining CompTIA Security+ certification within 6 months and involves occasional travel (up to 10%) to domestic locations. This is a full-time onsite position supporting 24x7 operations.

Principal Linux System Administrator based in Tewksbury, MA, internally known as Principal Analyst, infrastructure Workplace Services, collaborate with many teams to support exciting, critical programs with classified information system capabilities. Success in this role means you are able to develop, implement and maintain secure, cost-efficient environments across various classified programs. Program teams rely on your collaboration and guidance to define computing requirements and create end-to-end solutions to solve complex IT infrastructure problems.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Redhat Enterprise Linux, and Microsoft Windows. 

  • Experience with Linux fundamentals and Windows Server internals to include Ansible, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, AD, and server replication methods. 

  • Working as a team member in a fast-paced technological environment.  Use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of a moderate to high scope and complexity to include the integration of hardware and operating systems (OS).

  • Experience with data RAID, data backup uses and technologies. Install and configure software applications requested by end users.

  • Work with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements and provide documentation and training on advanced IT processes and procedures and other tasks as assigned.

  • Must be able to obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification) within 6 months of start date.

  • Must be able to develop solutions and documentation to solve a variety of technical problems.

  • Systems are operational 24x7 and occasionally require work effort beyond standard work hours.

  • Travel is required to other US Domestic locations as business needs dictate up to 10% travel.

  • Full time 100% Onsite position.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a University degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance   Start date will be issued when interim clearance is obtained.

  • Must have Linux experience.

  • Experience in one of the following: LDAP, Active Directory, VMware, MySQL, networking administration experience.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • VMware highly desired.

  • An active DoD Secret clearance.

  • Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification and an Operating System Certification).

  • Experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS and/or DoD/RMF.

  • Experience with data storage, NAS, and SAN technologies and solutions.

  • Experience with using Information Technology project lifecycle management processes.

  • Experience using VMWare vCenter, vSphere, and ESX and/or other virtual computing methods.

  • Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development.

  • Experience with Microsoft WSUS, MECM, and/or Exchange

  • High Performance Computing (HPC) experience in a Linux environment.

  • Scripting Experience.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
