Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Structural Welder to join our dynamic fabrication team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) and demonstrate a proven track record of producing high-quality structural welds in accordance with industry standards and specifications. This full-time position offers an opportunity to work on diverse structural projects ranging from commercial buildings and bridges to industrial facilities and infrastructure developments.
As a Structural Welder, you will be responsible for interpreting technical drawings, selecting appropriate welding techniques, and executing precision welds on various structural steel components. Your work will directly contribute to the structural integrity and safety of critical construction projects, making attention to detail and adherence to quality standards paramount.
Key Responsibilities
Welding Operations
- Perform Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) on structural steel components including beams, columns, trusses, and plate assemblies in various positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead)
- Execute welds on carbon steel, low-alloy steel, and other structural materials with thicknesses ranging from 1/4 inch to 2 inches or greater
- Maintain consistent weld quality, ensuring proper penetration, bead appearance, and structural soundness
- Perform tack welding to temporarily hold components in proper alignment before final welding
- Conduct visual inspections of completed welds to identify defects such as cracks, porosity, or incomplete fusion
- Perform minor repairs and modifications to welded assemblies as required
Blueprint Reading and Interpretation
- Read and interpret structural drawings, blueprints, welding symbols, and technical specifications
- Understand welding procedure specifications (WPS) and follow prescribed parameters including voltage, amperage, wire feed speed, and travel speed
