Shift Operation Supervision Fabrication

The Fabrication Shift Supervisor oversees and coordinates the daily operations of the fabrication department during a assigned shift. This role is responsible for ensuring that production targets, quality standards, and safety protocols are met. The supervisor leads a team of fabricators, welders, and machine operators, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to maintain an efficient and safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead the fabrication team, including welders, fitters, and other skilled workers.
• Ensure all fabrication activities comply with company safety procedures, OSHA (or relevant regulatory body) standards, and industry best practices.
• Conduct regular safety briefings and training sessions for all fabrication personnel to promote awareness of hazards and safe work practices
• Proactively identify potential safety hazards in the fabrication process and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks
• Plan, schedule, and monitor fabrication activities to meet production deadlines.
• Ensure all fabrication work complies with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Inspect materials and components for defects and ensure proper handling and storage.
• Maintain and enforce strict safety protocols and procedures in the fabrication area.
• Coordinate with process engineering, quality control, and maintenance departments to resolve fabrication issues.
• Train, mentor, and develop fabrication staff to improve skills and performance.
• Monitor equipment usage and recommend maintenance or replacement as needed.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports and documentation

Qualifications:

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field preferred; or equivalent experience.
• 2 years of experience in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of welding, cutting, and fabrication techniques.
• Familiarity with fabrication tools, machines, and safety standards.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in using production management software is a plus.

Working Conditions:

• Work is primarily in a fabrication shop or industrial environment.
• Requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety regulations.
• May involve shift work and overtime depending on production needs.
