JOB SUMMARY:Within the context of a client and family centered care model and in accordance with established vision and values of the organization, this position performs a variety of communication and reception functions by telephone or in person to staff, residents and the public by performing duties such as answering the main Centre phone line, referring callers as appropriate, locating personnel through the use of pagers, or public address system, responding to emergencies, receiving visitors, responding to general enquiries and receiving resident items such as flowers for delivery. Performs a variety of clerical duties such as maintaining levels of ward medical supplies, updating staff/resident/client directories, sorting mail, photocopying, typing correspondence, documents and reports as required, and providing support to the Occupational Health & Safety Committee by taking minutes or notes at meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience Grade 12, plus one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experienceKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to keyboard at 45 w.p.m. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to deal with others effectively. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Ability to organize work. Ability to operate related equipment.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
