Santander CIB is looking for a Structured Notes Platform Development & Automation Associate / Vice President based in Madrid, Spain.


Join X-Asset Investment Solutions within Santander Corporate & Investment Banking in Madrid and help design, industrialise and scale a global structured-notes issuance platform. Working at the intersection of business and technology, you will translate issuance, documentary, regulatory and operational requirements into robust processes, functional designs, technology solutions and external connectivity. Your work will increase automation, resilience and capacity across MTN issuance vehicles, repack structures and open multidealer platforms.

  • Own the functional design and delivery of platform enhancements for structured-notes issuance, translating business requirements into process maps, functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria and implementation plans.
  • Design scalable front-to-back processes across MTN issuance vehicles, repack structures and open platforms, covering pre-trade, documentation, issuance, booking, settlement, regulatory reporting and lifecycle events, with clear controls, ownership, exception handling and operational hand-offs.
  • Coordinate technology delivery with Product Owners, Technology, Operations and external providers, managing priorities, backlogs, dependencies, testing, defects, and release planning.
  • Drive market readiness for new products, platform capabilities and distribution channels, coordinating business, technology, operations, controls and external stakeholders to ensure operational readiness, testing, implementation and successful transition into production.
  • Develop document-generation and data-driven workflows for term sheets, legal and issuance documentation, regulatory outputs and management information, improving data quality, traceability, version control and consistency.
  • Define and implement connectivity requirements with distributors, market infrastructures and open multi-dealer platforms, including SPIRE, covering data exchange, system integration, onboarding, testing, controls and operational support.
  • Identify manual tasks, control gaps and operational bottlenecks; redesign processes; and deliver automation that increases straight-through processing, issuance capacity, resilience and control effectiveness.
  • Define platform data requirements, key data elements, validation rules, ownership and quality controls supporting issuance, documentation, regulatory reporting and lifecycle management.
  • Lead business analysis, end-to-end and user-acceptance testing, and the controlled deployment of new capabilities, including implementation governance, production monitoring, issue resolution, remediation and user adoption.

Professional Experience


  • Relevant experience in capital markets technology, business analysis, platform development, process transformation, securities issuance or a comparable function (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience translating business requirements into functional specifications and delivering front-to-back technology, workflow or automation initiatives in a regulated financial-services environment (Required)
  • Experience with structured-note issuance, MTN issuance vehicles, repack structures, securities workflows, documentation platforms, distributor connectivity, multidealer platforms or lifecycle processes (Preferred)
  • Experience with workflow automation, APIs or file-based connectivity, document generation, data governance, testing and production implementation within Markets (Preferred)

Education


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Business or a related discipline (Required)
  • Postgraduate qualification in technology, data, engineering, finance, project management or capital markets (Preferred)

Languages

  • High professional proficiency in English, written and spoken (Required)
  • Professional proficiency in German, Italian or French (Preferred)
  • Professional proficiency in Spanish (Preferred)

Hard Skills


  • Understanding of structured products, derivatives and front-to-back securities issuance processes, including MTN and repack structures (Required)
  • Ability to convert business, documentary, regulatory and operational requirements into process designs, functional specifications, user stories and test scenarios (Required)
  • Knowledge of workflow platforms, systems integration or connectivity, data structures, document-generation solutions and testing methodologies (Preferred)
  • Strong business-analysis, process-design, project-delivery, data-governance and analytical capabilities (Required)

Soft Skills


  • Technically minded and execution-oriented, with the ability to move from business need to functional design, testing and implementation
  • Effective bridge between business and technology teams, able to explain functional and technical issues clearly across functions and levels of seniority
  • Structured, detail-oriented and comfortable managing priorities, backlogs, dependencies, testing cycles and implementation risks
  • Pragmatic problem-solver with sound judgement, appropriate autonomy, commercial awareness and a strong control mindset
