At Yorkville University and Toronto Film School, we believe education is more than the pursuit of knowledge – it is a catalyst for transformation. Our mission, grounded in democratizing education, is to create access for learners from every background and empower them to achieve their aspirations and advance their careers.

We are committed to delivering rigorous, flexible programs that are both personally fulfilling and professionally rewarding, while contributing to the betterment of society. Since 2004, Yorkville has been among Canada’s few private, for-profit, fully accredited degree-granting universities, with campuses in Ontario, British Columbia, and New Brunswick. Together with Toronto Film School, we offer creative and academic pathways at both the college and university levels, cultivating a multidisciplinary environment where innovation and the arts converge.

Our community is vibrant and diverse. Many of our learners are adults balancing education with careers and personal commitments. Every member of our team – whether in teaching, operations, or technology – is dedicated to removing barriers and expanding access. Together, we deliver flexible, industry-informed learning that leads to meaningful opportunities.

At our core is human connection – guiding people to reimagine their futures in a community defined by opportunity, creativity, and growth.

Who we need

Reporting to the Manager, IT Architecture & DevOps, we are hiring a Workflow Automations Specialist to join our Information Technology Services team. As our new Workflow Automations Specialist, you will design, build, maintain, and improve workflow automations and integrations that connect critical systems across Yorkville University, including our learning management system, student information system, Salesforce, and other enterprise applications. Using Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Automate and Power Apps, you will develop complex workflows, integrate systems through secure APIs, and support reliable data exchange across the organization. Working closely with business stakeholders and IT teams, you will translate business requirements into practical technical solutions, taking ownership from initial design and development through testing, deployment, and ongoing improvement. You will also contribute to upcoming student information system and CRM modernization initiatives, helping evolve how systems connect and information flows across the university.

This is an existing full-time role, working 2 days remotely and 3 days on-site at 85 Richmond Street West, with a move to our new headquarters at 120 Bloor Street East in Fall 2027

What is in it for you

Impact. You will play an important role in improving how technology supports the day-to-day operations of Yorkville University. By building and maintaining integrations between critical systems, you will help reduce manual processes, improve the flow of information, and make it easier for teams across the university to do their work. You will see the direct impact of your solutions as they are adopted across the organization.

Ownership and technical challenges. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of complex workflow automations from initial requirements through design, development, testing, and deployment. Working primarily with Microsoft Power Platform, you will go beyond simple automations to solve challenging integration problems involving multiple enterprise systems, APIs, and secure data exchange. You will have the autonomy to make technical decisions while collaborating with experienced colleagues who value knowledge sharing and thoughtful problem-solving.

Growth and opportunity. You will join a small, collaborative team at a time when Yorkville University is preparing for significant changes to its student information and CRM systems. These initiatives will create opportunities to redesign existing integrations, build new solutions, and expand your technical expertise. Working alongside an experienced team member, you will gain exposure to enterprise-wide technology projects and develop your skills in automation, systems integration, and DevOps practices.

As our Workflow Automations Specialist, you will:

  • Design and build workflow automations. You will develop, maintain, and enhance complex workflows and applications using Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Automate and Power Apps. You will create solutions that connect enterprise systems, streamline processes, and improve how information moves across the university.
  • Develop secure system integrations. You will build and maintain integrations between critical platforms, including the learning management system, student information system, Salesforce, and other internal applications. You will work with vendor APIs, manage authentication and access permissions, and apply secure coding and data-handling practices to ensure reliable information exchange.
  • Translate business needs into technical solutions. You will collaborate with stakeholders across the university to understand requirements, assess technical feasibility, and recommend practical approaches. You will create technical documentation, develop proofs of concept, and demonstrate solutions to ensure alignment before deployment.
  • Manage development through deployment. You will take ownership of your solutions from design and development through testing, release, and ongoing support. Working within established DevOps and release management processes, you will participate in code reviews, troubleshoot issues, resolve defects, and provide technical support for existing automations and integrations.
  • Improve and modernize existing workflows. You will regularly review integrations and automations to identify opportunities to simplify processes, improve performance, and strengthen reliability. You will contribute to upcoming student information system and CRM modernization initiatives, helping redesign existing workflows and build new integrations that support evolving business needs.
  • Collaborate and share knowledge. You will work closely with colleagues across IT, the Project Management Office, and business teams to coordinate requirements, communicate progress, and support successful implementation. You will maintain clear technical documentation and share your knowledge to support the ongoing reliability and improvement of the university's automation environment.

You have:

  • The technical experience. You have hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining complex workflow automations using Microsoft Power Platform, particularly Power Automate and Power Apps. You have worked with integrations that connect multiple enterprise systems and understand how to develop solutions that are reliable, scalable, and secure.
  • The integration expertise. You have experience working with APIs to connect applications and enable the secure exchange of information. You understand authentication, authorization, access permissions, and credential management, and you apply secure coding and data-handling practices throughout development.
  • The end-to-end development skills. You have experience taking technical solutions from requirements gathering and design through development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support. You are comfortable working within DevOps and release management processes, participating in code reviews, troubleshooting issues, and documenting your work.
  • The analytical and problem-solving skills. You can assess complex business requirements, evaluate technical options, and determine practical approaches to building effective solutions. You are comfortable working independently, making technical decisions, and explaining the reasoning behind your approach. You look for opportunities to simplify existing workflows, improve efficiency, and strengthen system performance.
  • The communication and collaboration skills. You can translate technical concepts into clear, accessible language for both technical and non-technical audiences. You have experience working with business stakeholders to understand their needs, clarify requirements, present solutions, and incorporate feedback. You build productive relationships across teams and communicate progress, challenges, and recommendations clearly.
