Customs Compliance Officer

The Eaton MSD Cheltenham Trade Compliance Team are critical to business operations and actions to ensure compliance in all company transactions. This function is instrumental in setting the compliance in the business for all aspects of operations.

To ensure compliance with export and import controls and regulations, maintain the Inward Processing and Outward Processing Authorisations and non-inventory shipments of demonstration, exhibition and loan equipment.

As a member of the Trade Compliance Team, act as a point of contact (internally and externally) for Customs export and import transactions.

## What you’ll do:

• Ensure compliance with import and export Customs legislation, and internal policies, processes and procedures.
• Maintain the companies Inward and Outward Processing Authorisations, support the submittal of quarterly Bills of Discharge to HMRC.
• Ensure that clearance instructions are issued to our freight forwarders for incoming shipments and ensure they have been issued correctly.
• Arrange import/export entry amendments where identified.
• Monthly reviews of TRE Data to ensure compliance.
• Arrange relevant customs documentation for personnel travelling abroad with hardware, including obtaining ATA Carnets from the Chamber of Commerce when required.
• Tariff classification and country of origin analysis for new product, and product being imported into the UK.
• Support the development and maintenance of Customs processes and procedures.
• Support any non-compliance with import or export legislation in the business and recommend and implement corrective actions.
• Review preferential origin assessments and declarations for PCS customers.
• Involvement with Customs-related external and internal compliance audits across all sites.
• Support all aspects of the Eaton MSD Cheltenham SBU regarding all matters related to import and export Customs compliance.
• Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures to ensure accreditation requirements are consistently met.
• Support continuous improvement teams and initiatives in the Trade Compliance function.
• Undertake any other tasks as required to support the Eaton MSD Cheltenham SBU.

## Qualifications:

• At least 3 years working experience in Customs compliance
• Experience of meticulous compliance with Customs-related processes and procedures
• Import and export clearance brokerage experience
• Experience of reporting on movements under Inward and Outward Processing
• Experience in export procedures and documentation management
• Experience of working directly with external/internal auditors, UK and international Government bodies desirable
• Experience in UK and US export controls desirable
