Medical Director – General Practice – Saugerties, NY
A full-service veterinary hospital is seeking an experienced Medical Director / Partner Veterinarian to lead its clinical team and help shape the continued growth of the practice. This opportunity is ideal for a veterinarian with strong leadership skills, a passion for high-quality medicine, and an interest in practice partnership and long-term professional growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead the veterinary team in delivering high-quality, compassionate, client-focused care.
- Establish and maintain clinical standards, protocols, and quality-of-care practices.
- Mentor and develop associate veterinarians and support staff.
- Promote preventive medicine and strong relationships between the practice, clients, and their pets.
- Serve as a clinical leader and positive representative of the practice within the community.
- Collaborate with practice leadership on hiring, training, scheduling, and team development.
- Support effective use of technology to enhance patient care and client communication.
- Participate in operational planning, budgeting, and practice performance discussions.
- Help develop a positive, collaborative workplace culture.
- Ensure compliance with applicable veterinary laws, regulations, and professional standards.
- Contribute to the continued growth and improvement of the hospital.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree.
- Active veterinary license in good standing in the applicable state.
- Several years of clinical veterinary experience.
- Previous leadership or management experience preferred.
- Strong client communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop veterinary professionals.
- Passion for high-quality, preventive, and patient-centered veterinary care.
- Strong collaboration, organization, and decision-making skills.
- Interest in practice leadership and long-term professional growth.
- Business awareness and the ability to contribute to practice development.
- Fear Free or similar certification is a plus, or willingness to pursue certification.
