Description
Product Manager
We're building a world-class, AI-driven operating system for local government, and we want product managers who can help shape it from day one.
The role
You'll own a product area end to end, with real customers, real usage and real influence on where the platform goes. Not a backlog someone else wrote, and not a feature inside a feature.
You'll work across our finance and operations suite, in areas like document management, accounts payable, reporting and analytics, and payroll and HR. Where you focus will be matched to your background and where the business needs it most.
If you're a PM today on an HR, payroll, AP or finance product, at a govtech or software vendor large or small, and you're ready for more ownership, faster decisions and AI at the center of the product, this is that job.
What you'll do
- Own the roadmap for your area. Decide what we build, what we don't, and why, then back it up with customer evidence and data.
- Build AI into the core workflow. Find the manual, repetitive work in your domain (keying invoices, reconciling payroll, building month-end reports) and design AI and agentic features that remove it.
- Work shoulder to shoulder with engineering. Write clear specs, user stories and acceptance criteria, make trade-offs in real time, and ship in short cycles on an API-first platform.
- Partner with sales, implementation and support. Join deals, demo what's coming, turn field feedback into product, and make sure every launch lands with the teams who sell and support it.
- Spend real time with customers. Clerks, finance directors, payroll admins and treasurers. Watch the work and bring back what you learn.
- Measure what matters. Set outcomes for adoption, time saved, support volume and revenue, and report on them.
- Help modernize the platform. Shape how capabilities move onto our new platform without disrupting anyone's month-end close.
Your first 90 days: learn the domain and the customers, ship your first meaningful improvement, and publish a 12-month roadmap for your area.
What you bring
Must have
- 3-4 years as a Product Manager or Product Owner on B2B SaaS.
- In your current role, you manage an HR, payroll, AP, finance, document management or reporting product, at a govtech, public-sector ERP or finance/HR software company. This needs to be your job today, not a past role.
- Shipped at least one software product in that space, end to end, that customers use today, and can walk us through what you built and the results.
- You use AI tools every day in your own work (prototyping, research, writing specs, analyzing data) and have opinions on where AI belongs in a product and where it doesn't.
- Comfortable going deep with engineers on APIs, data models and trade-offs, then explaining the same thing plainly to a customer or a salesperson.
- A track record of shipping. You can point to things you launched and what changed because of them.
- High drive and low ego. You want ownership, you move fast, and you'd rather fix the problem than describe it.
Nice to have
- Public-sector, fund accounting, municipal finance or utility billing experience.
- Experience on an ERP or HCM suite, especially a cloud migration or legacy-to-new-platform rebuild.
- Shipped an AI or LLM-powered feature to production (document extraction, copilots, agents, natural-language reporting).
- Comfort with SQL or a BI tool so you can answer your own questions.
Why join us
- Ownership from day one. Here you own an area, not a screen, and work directly with product and technology leadership.
- AI is the strategy, not a side project. We're building the platform AI-first, so your ideas ship instead of waiting on a corporate AI program.
- Real customers, real scale. 2,000+ local governments already run on our products. What you build gets used the week it ships.
- Backed to win. Investment from TA Associates means budget for new products, new hires and modern tooling.
- A small, sharp team that has fun. Fast decisions, no committee for every call, and people who like building together.
- Room to grow. We're building the product org now. Early PMs here shape how it works and grow with it.
