Overview

A national, award-winning interdisciplinary architecture, engineering, planning, and design practice is seeking a Project Architect for its growing San Jose workplace, community, and interiors team. The firm brings integrated expertise to complex projects and values design excellence, technical rigor, sustainability, empathy, and curiosity. This hybrid role works in the office three days per week.

Position Description

The Project Architect will lead design and technical efforts across multiple phases and project scales, contribute to project strategy and client engagement, and guide high-quality documentation. The role manages complex work independently, coordinates multidisciplinary consultants, mentors developing staff, and partners closely with Project Managers and Principals.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of architectural drawings, details, design concepts, analyses, and planning studies.

• Oversee construction-document production and ensure technical accuracy and coordinated building systems.

• Evaluate materials and methods for constructability, sustainability, and performance.

• Manage substantial portions of project scope, schedule, and deliverables.

• Lead coordination with consultants and internal teams across disciplines.

• Review and respond to submittals, RFIs, and field reports using professional judgment.

• Support construction administration through site visits, issue resolution, and quality assurance.

• Facilitate design meetings and client presentations with clarity and confidence.

• Mentor junior and intermediate staff and foster an inclusive, accountable team culture.

• Contribute to practice initiatives, BIM workflows, emerging technology, and design thought leadership.

Skills & Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.

• 7–10 years of professional experience on small- to large-scale projects.

• Active architecture license required.

• Advanced proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.

• Experience with BIM workflows and project-management tools.

• Strong leadership, communication, presentation, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
