Hourly Range: $22.00 - $24.00/hour
This is a temporary, one-year appointment with the potential for extension based on institutional needs.
ANTICIPATED START DATE: As soon as possible, but no later than mid-November. If the recruitment timeline does not allow for a start by mid-November, the start date will be deferred to January 2027.

This position reports to the Assistant Director for the School of Arts & Humanities. Works with all members of the School of Arts & Humanities community to provide information and communication about all events, activities and important information via the website, announcements, social media, emails and more. Build and maintain strong web and social media presence for each department and the School of Arts & Humanities, while working within the guidelines and procedures established by the university.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Ensuring that all communication content is consistent with the mission and strategic goals of Claremont Graduate University, design and implement a communications strategy and plan for the School of Arts and Humanities and each of its departments.
- Under the direction of the SAH Assistant Director and in cooperation with CGU Marketing and Communications on design and with faculty on content responsible for maintaining and updating all school/department webpages. Implement a content editorial calendar to manage content to coincide with annual academic cycle.
- Utilizing a variety of social media platforms, assist in building and maintaining an active community by producing written and graphic/visual content to help promote and share the school’s activities through interaction with students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
- Develop and implement digital marketing campaign for the School of Arts & Humanities and each of its departments.
- Analyze key metrics to determine success of all communications activity and compile reports to demonstrate results.
- Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design and strategy.
- Gather information from staff, students and faculty to create announcements for events. Post announcements in appropriate locations (bulletin boards, electronic boards, website, calendars, etc.).
- Post event information on CGU Master Calendar and all other relevant calendars.
- Create and distribute regular electronic newsletters to current students, alumni, boards/councils and other interested parties.
- Attend as many SAH events as possible, becoming familiar with students, staff and faculty and their ‘stories’, take photos and/or video for sharing on social media or including in the newsletter.
Event Support
- Work together with the SAH Events Coordinator to:
- Plan and organize events.
- Publicize events, both internally and externally as needed.
- Create promotional materials, hardcopy and digital as needed.
- Direct student assistants in relation to event support.
- Assist with determining successfulness of various events as they impact marketing and recruitment.
- Invite alumni to appropriate university, school, or departmental related events. Ensure that relevant special events information is publicly available to alumni.
General Duties
- Under the supervision and at the request of the Assistant Director, fill in when needed due to temporary absences or vacancies left by other school staff.
- Interact with other department staff across the university as needed, and when directed by the Assistant Director, assist in the training of other department staff.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

3. Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn additional programs, including PeopleSoft student database.
4. Some graphic design experience helpful, including experience with Adobe Suite of products.
5. Adept at editing and building websites and social media campaigns. Ability to build community engagement and maintain strong base of supporters.
6. Ability to understand, interpret and put into action complex verbal and/or written instructions and communications.
7. Ability to work independently, take direction and work as part of a team required.
8. Understanding of academic programs and processes.
9. Professional demeanor and dress, communication style, and outgoing, confident professional image.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree plus two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE: Two years of related experience required. Experience and enthusiasm for editing, building web-content and social media campaigns. Excellent customer service experience required.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATES: Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and meet CGU’s authorized driver’s requirements.

HOURS: The regular work schedule for this position is generally Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Work hours and schedules may vary based on university, departmental, and operational needs. This position is primarily on-site; however, flexible or remote work arrangements may be available with supervisor approval and are subject to operational needs and university practices. Any flexible work arrangement may be modified or discontinued as business needs change.
