Inspect, modify, repair, assemble, and test a wide variety of industrial valves and automation packages. The role ensures all industrial valves (ball, gate, globe, check, butterfly, plug, and control valves) meet exact customer specifications, engineering drawings, and safety standards before shipment or installation.
- Disassemble, clean, inspect, and evaluate worn or defective valve components.
- Perform minor to moderate valve modifications (e.g., trim changes, sleeve swap-outs, bolting changes, and conversions to fire-tested standards).
- Replace internal components such as seals, seats, stems, packing, gaskets, and O-rings.
- Mount, calibrate, and wire electric or pneumatic actuators and accessories (solenoid valves, limit switches, positioners) onto valves.
- Execute hydro-static and pneumatic pressure testing using specialized test stands to verify seat leakage limits and body integrity.
- Use precision measuring tools (torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators) to ensure parts meet tight manufacturing tolerances.
- Complete and archive quality documentation, test logs, and Certified Material Test Reports (CMTRs) for customer compliance.
- Read and interpret schematics, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), valve data sheets, and engineering drawings.
- Troubleshoot performance issues with valve automation packages, leaks, or mechanical failures.
- Assist warehouse operations when needed (receiving raw valves, operating forklifts, using jib cranes, and packaging finished assemblies for transport).
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training in mechanical maintenance or hydraulics is a plus.
- Experience: 0 to 2+ years of hands-on experience servicing, modifying, or testing industrial valves in a shop, plant, or warehouse environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of industrial PVF (Pipes, Valves, and Fittings).
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, hydraulic presses, torque equipment, and pressure test rigs.
- Understanding of pneumatic circuits, tubing/fittings, and actuator travel adjustment.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs regularly (and maneuver heavy valve body castings using overhead cranes/hoists).
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and operate tools for the duration of an 8- to 10-hour shift.
- Hardhat; Type 1 Class E, Orange (high visibility)
- Safety Glasses – ANSI z87+, Clear
- Safety Vest – Type R, Class 2, None FR, Yellow/Green, or Orange
