As the retail arm of The Salvation Army, we’re dedicated to raising funds that support life-changing programs for those in need. We operate over 400 Stores across Australia (including online), offering a sustainable shopping experience through the recycling of pre-loved items. Join our diverse and collaborative team in the role of Volunteer Online Instore Retail Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting our store operations. You’ll work alongside a dedicated team of managers, support staff, and fellow volunteers, while gaining valuable skills, making new friendships, and contributing to your community. Whether you’re sorting donations, assisting with online orders, or interacting with customers in store, you’ll be helping raise much-needed funds to provide essential services to those who need it most.
Please note – this volunteer role is not a paid position.
About You:
Complete Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC)
Valid email address required
Experience listing items online or an interest to learn
Comfortable using computers and/or smart phone devices or a willingness to learn
A positive attitude
Attention to detail
Able to follow instructions
Ability to work autonomously and use initiative
Integrity and honesty
Willingness to work in accordance with The Salvation Army's mission and values, and comply with Official Minutes, Policies and Procedures
What You’ll Be Doing:
Sorting and selecting in-demand donations to list online
Photographing items so they’re looking their best for our online customers
Creating short, appealing and accurate listings using our easy-to-use listing tool
Packing online orders to ensure they reach our customers in one piece
Maintaining stock and photography areas, keeping them safe, clean and tidy
General cleaning and merchandising within a supportive team environment
Assist instore, Volunteer Retail Assistant duties when required
Important Note - Volunteers must be 15 years of age and older
