Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer/Mechanical Technologist (CET or PEng)
Location: Edmonton, Alberta (Onsite)
Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent

The Position
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Technologist to join their team in Edmonton.
You will have 8-10 years of experience and a strong background in HVAC and mechanical building systems design. This role involves working on a wide variety of building-related projects from concept to completion while collaborating with clients, architects, contractors, and internal team members. Candidates with either a P.Eng or CET designation will be considered!
What You'll Do
Mechanical Design
- Perform mechanical system design (HVAC and Plumbing).
- Perform design calculations as required, including heat loss, heat gain, and flow calculations.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and regulations.
- Learn and follow company design and drawing standards.
- Work independently or within a team environment to complete projects.
- Ensure projects are completed within established schedules and budgets while maintaining high quality standards.
Construction Administration
- Attend meetings with clients, architects, and trades.
- Prepare site instructions and change orders.
- Review shop drawings.
- Perform site reviews as required.
Mentorship & Team Collaboration
- Provide mentorship and guidance to new and junior employees.
- Contribute positively to a collaborative team environment.
- Maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and clients.
Qualifications & Requirements
- CET or P.Eng designation, or eligibility for professional registration in Alberta.
- 8-10 years of experience in mechanical building systems design.
- Experience with HVAC and piping system design.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of ASHRAE standards.
- Understanding of Alberta Building Code requirements.
- Strong technical competence and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Self-starter with a passion for engineering and continuous learning.
