Job Summary:
The Chief Electrical Engineer is responsible for leading, managing, and supervising all electrical engineering activities within the organization. The role ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical systems, equipment, and infrastructure while ensuring compliance with applicable standards, regulations, and company requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the electrical engineering team and coordinate daily engineering activities.
- Plan, design, review, and oversee the installation, testing, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of electrical systems.
- Ensure the reliability, availability, and efficiency of electrical equipment and systems.
- Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs for electrical equipment.
- Review electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Manage electrical projects from design and procurement through installation and commissioning.
- Coordinate with mechanical, civil, instrumentation, automation, and other engineering disciplines.
- Monitor electrical equipment performance and identify opportunities for improvement and energy efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety requirements, engineering standards, and applicable local and international codes.
- Investigate electrical failures, faults, and breakdowns and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Provide technical support and guidance to maintenance and operations teams.
- Prepare technical specifications, equipment requirements, budgets, and project schedules.
- Review and approve technical proposals, equipment selections, and engineering designs.
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, consultants, and external service providers.
- Manage electrical engineering budgets and control project and maintenance costs.
- Ensure proper documentation of electrical systems, maintenance activities, modifications, and projects.
- Implement electrical safety procedures, risk assessments, and safe work practices.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to electrical engineers and technicians.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in electrical engineering, preferably in an industrial, commercial, construction, facilities, or infrastructure environment.
- Proven experience in managing and supervising electrical engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, distribution systems, motors, transformers, protection systems, and control systems.
- Experience with electrical design, maintenance, testing, and commissioning.
- Good knowledge of electrical safety standards and applicable engineering codes.
- Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and project-management skills.
