San Bernardino County is recruiting for Supervising Automated Systems Analysts I to manage networked information systems, functions, and services. Duties include evaluation, modification, implementation and oversight of complex networked computer systems and the distribution of PCs and other devices.  Additionally, incumbents may supervise a technical staff, manage and maintain endpoint systems such as desktops, printers and various user based devices. This position will assist the IT service desk manager in maintaining service level agreements, asset inventory, and Help Desk tracking and support; determine departmental information technology (IT) needs, such as hardware requirements and capabilities; and recommend resolutions for hardware, software and network conflicts.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must successfully pass a background check, which includes fingerprinting and a job-related medical exam.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of full-time equivalent experience, within the last five (5) years, supporting computer applications (i.e., troubleshooting; assisting and instructing end-users on effective use; resolving problems).

Experience must include proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint use and experience with the following advanced functions: supporting Microsoft networked desktops; maintaining and supporting networking functions; supporting user access to file and print servers; utilizing Active Directory; coordinating migrations/upgrades; and assisting users with computer applications and desktop/helpdesk support.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: Thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of completed, college level coursework from accredited** college or university in Information Technology OR Certification as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), CompTIA A+, or Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) certification.

Education Substitution: One (1) year of additional qualifying experience may substitute for the required education or certificate.

**Qualifying degrees and coursework must be conferred by institutions accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Degrees earned outside the United States must be accompanied by an evaluation from a recognized credential evaluation service verifying U.S. equivalency.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience supervising or leading technical staff in an IT operations, service desk, or systems support environment.
  • Experience managing enterprise endpoint systems, including computers, printers, mobile devices, and other user-facing technology.
  • Knowledge of IT service management practices, including service level agreements, help desk operations, ticket tracking, and customer support.
  • Experience with IT asset management, hardware deployment, inventory tracking, and technology lifecycle management.
  • Experience evaluating IT needs and recommending hardware, software, and network solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of networked computer systems and experience troubleshooting hardware, software, and network-related issues.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
