Pratt & Whitney’s Compression Systems Engineering (CSE) HPC Design group seeks a goal‑oriented, detail‑focused Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to support the F135 Base or ECU HPC Component Integrated Product Teams (CIPTs). The selected candidate will take support and leadership roles in high‑priority engineering tasks and directly assist Integrated Product Team Leader (IPTL) and program managers.

What You Will Do 

• Across Base and ECU programs, you will:
• Develop innovative and technically sound design solutions that meet program schedule milestones.
• Lead or support producibility initiatives, including EFPRs performed remotely or on‑site.
• Support ECU Design Validation activities, including EFPRs and module‑integration coordination.
• Apply advanced 3D modeling tools to develop and refine component‑ and module‑level designs.
• Lead or support military field‑incident investigations, including root‑cause analysis.
• Develop serviceable limits using advanced data‑processing methods and multi‑discipline collaboration.
• Participate in multi‑week engine tear‑downs at Tinker AFB.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary IPTs across design, structures, aero, HT&SF, manufacturing, and quality.
• Support the creation of safety‑risk analyses and risk‑mitigation plans; present technical results to customers and program management.
• Mentor and support early‑career engineers.
• Improve engineering efficiency through advanced data‑mining, smart tools, and AI.
• Domestic travel of 10–20% may be required.

Qualifications You Must Have 

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 5+ years of relevant experience, or
• Advanced degree with 3+ years of mechanical‑design experience
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum project‑management tools
• Understanding of engine hardware, 2D drawings, MBD, and manufacturing methods
• Solid data‑management and processing skills
• Ability to leverage AI tools for improved engineering results
• Ability to work in fast‑paced environments with attention to detail
• Experience with NX, Teamcenter, engineering standard work, SAP, Class I & II EC processes
• ANSYS experience desired

Compression Systems Engineering (CSE)

Compression Systems Engineering is responsible for the design, development, and in service support of all fans low-pressure and high-pressure compressors for commercial and military engine models. CSE is responsible for the identification and maturation of new technologies for these products.

Technical disciplines in CSE include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, and Product Definition.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
