STAFF, SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Position Summary...

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to design and build scalable backend platforms and distributed systems that power mission-critical applications. This role requires strong expertise in Java backend development, microservices, and distributed systems, along with working knowledge of modern data engineering and event-driven architectures. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership across teams, drive engineering excellence, and deliver highly available, secure, and scalable software solutions.

Solution Design & Architecture

• Design scalable, resilient, and cloud-native backend applications and distributed systems.
• Drive architecture and design decisions for microservices, APIs, and platform capabilities.
• Evaluate technical trade-offs to ensure solutions meet performance, scalability, security, and reliability requirements.
• Design backend services that integrate efficiently with messaging systems and enterprise data platforms.

Software Development

• Develop high-quality backend services using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and event-driven architectures.
• Build reusable components, libraries, and frameworks that improve developer productivity.
• Optimize application performance, concurrency, latency, and scalability.
• Follow engineering best practices for coding, testing, CI/CD, observability, and security.
• Implement telemetry, logging, and monitoring to improve operational visibility.

Data & Event Processing

• Develop and maintain backend components that support batch and streaming data processing.
• Work with technologies such as Apache Kafka and have working knowledge of Apache Spark or Hadoop-based data processing frameworks.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to build reliable data pipelines supporting operational and analytical workloads.
• Apply best practices for data quality, monitoring, and performance optimization.

DevOps & Operational Excellence

• Support the complete software development lifecycle including development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support.
• Troubleshoot application, messaging, and data processing issues through root cause analysis.
• Drive automation through CI/CD pipelines and engineering tooling.
• Continuously improve application reliability, maintainability, and operational efficiency.

Technical Leadership

• Provide technical leadership across multiple engineering teams through design reviews, code reviews, and architectural guidance.
• Mentor engineers on backend development, distributed systems, and engineering best practices.
• Promote reusable design patterns, coding standards, and engineering excellence.
• Influence technical direction through collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Collaboration

• Partner with Product, Platform, Infrastructure, Data Engineering, and AI/ML teams to deliver business outcomes.
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
