Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct quality control engineers assigned to perform inspections and surveillance in support of project work and/or maintenance activities.
  • Provide quality control support to construction management and direct personnel to implement quality requirements and to accurately status the results.
  • Establish priorities which support construction/operations needs. Resolve complex problems which develop during the implementation of quality activities by coordinating with internal and external departments.
  • Provide leadership which inspires efficient performance of assignments, safe work habits, timely exchange of information and each individuals' commitment to site policies.
  • Participate in contract discussions relating to quality activities.
  • Prepare comprehensive status reports for construction quality activities. Review and approve subcontractors quality procedures and monitor their adherence to those procedures.
  • Coordinate the activities of assigned quality control engineers and with other constructiondepartments to ensure that construction is in compliance with site specifications and standards.
  • Prepare quality procedures to ensure proper inspection, testing and surveillance activities are being performed.
  • Provide effective quality training programs and ensure assigned personnel are qualified to perform assigned tasks.
  • Develop, revise, and perform peer reviews of Quality Control Inspection Plans related toelectrical and I&C, in accordance with Design Output documents, Codes, and Standards.
  • Perform field related inspections in accordance with Quality Control Inspection Plans.
  • Document inspection results on applicable inspection records and issue Non-Conformance reports as required.
  • Review product and process compliance with all specified drawings, specifications, and other requirements through inspection and/or review of supplied materials and equipment
  • Prepare performance evaluations of assigned personnel.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and at least 8 - 10 years of practical experience in construction inspection or related areas.
  • An Associate's degree and 10 - 12 years of practical experience would be considered equivalent.
  • A high school diploma and 12 - 16 years of practical experience would also be considered equivalent.
  • Certification in areas of responsibility are required with ongoing programmatic training per the requirements of the project quality program.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 8-10 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Well-developed organizational and supervisory skills and good communication talents.(required)
  • Prior work experience working under an ASME NQA-1 quality program (required)
  • Prior DOE work experience (required)
  • Due to federal contract security requirements, this position requires U.S. Citizenship. (required)
  • Due to federal contract security requirements, candidates must be able to successfully pass a federal background investigation to secure and maintain DOE Q security clearance. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & LOCATION DETAILS:

  • Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are preferred
  • Practical field experience in electrical and instrumentation and controls (I&C) quality control within the last 16 months
  • Anticipated Work Schedule:  Mon-Thurs 6:00a-4:30p
  • Projects Supported: SPD/K-PuMP project

  • 100% Onsite. Local candidates or willing to relocate at the candidate's expense.
