Description

ROLE SUMMARY

You will play a critical role in shaping the data foundation for Pfizer’s GH&B business by designing an integrated, scalable architecture that connects manufacturing, finance, supply, pricing and commercial performance data across the end-to-end value chain. You will define target-state data architecture, establish cross-domain data models, standards, data contracts and governance practices, and guide engineering teams in building trusted, reusable data products that support business decision-making today while remaining aligned to Pfizer’s evolving enterprise data strategy.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and maintain the target state data architecture and multi-year roadmap for GH&B across the raw, mastered and cross domain layers, spanning manufacturing, finance and commercial, working with business partners, domain data owners, and the owners of PGS, commercial and enabling function data standards.

  • Set and apply data standards for GH&B in coordination with enterprise, manufacturing, commercial, and enabling function data standards owners, and represent GH&B Digital in architecture and data governance forums. Recommend GH&B originated patterns for reuse across Pfizer.

  • Define and maintain the GH&B cross domain data model that connects manufacturing, finance and commercial. This is the layer unique to GH&B and it is the core of the role.

  • Define data products, data contracts, schema standards and data movement rules across organizational and jurisdictional boundaries, including data residency and reporting constraints, and establish the criteria by which a GH&B data product is accepted as trusted.

  • Set DataOps and quality standards, and direct contractor data engineering capacity building and running the GH&B cross domain layer to those standards.

  • Apply and maintain data governance for a GxP (Good Practice quality regulations) environment, including data integrity by design and readiness for emerging regulatory expectations on AI and data.

  • Design for migration into enterprise platforms. Build interim, migration ready data contracts rather than permanent bespoke infrastructure, and hold a recurring checkpoint with the enterprise data fabric and institutional memory platform teams so GH&B structures stay compatible.

  • Lead architecture review for GH&B data initiatives, guide build versus conforms decisions, and prevent duplicative builds against enterprise platforms and against domain owned layers.

  • Direct contingent contractor data engineering resources, flexing with demand.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Management or a related field and 8+ years experience in data architecture, data management or data engineering, including experience setting standards adopted by teams outside their direct control

  • Relevant Masters degree and 7+ years experience in data architecture, data management or data engineering, including experience setting standards adopted by teams outside their direct control

  • Demonstrated leadership of enterprise data architecture, data models and data standards in a large, federated organization.

  • Experience defining architecture that spans more than one business domain, with distributed data ownership.

  • Experience applying data governance in a GxP or comparable regulated environment, including data integrity requirements.

  • Applied knowledge of AI concepts and a working understanding of what AI ready demands of data architecture.

  • Experience directing external engineering resources, partners or contractors.

  • Track record of influencing and aligning senior stakeholders across business and technology organizations without direct authority.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree (MS / MBA / PhD) in a relevant field.

  • Exposure to both commercial and manufacturing or supply chain data environments. Both is strongly preferred, and rare.

  • Working knowledge of data product and data contract practices, and of medallion layer architectures.

  • Experience with Snowflake, cloud data platforms and modern DataOps practice.

  • Working knowledge of ISA-95 / ISA-88 (the international standards for enterprise control system integration and batch control).

  • Recognized architecture or data management credentials (for example TOGAF, DAMA CDMP).

  • Participation in enterprise architecture governance or architecture review boards.
