Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Specialist assists patients with acute recovery from cardiovascular and/or pulmonary disease in an effort to optimize their health and maximize quality of life.Required Behaviors:

Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Must meet the requirements for obtaining and maintaining life support certifications as outlined in the Life Support Certification policy
Preferred Qualifications:
- Recent experience working in cardiac, pulmonary, physical therapy or exercise related environment
- Recent experience working with continuous cardiac monitoring and/or EKG interpretation related skills or training
- Recent experience performing vital signs and ability to interpret and respond to abnormal values
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Able to obtain and interpret vital signs, responds to abnormal values appropriately
- Observes cardiac monitors, interprets cardiac rhythms and correctly operates cardiac monitoring equipment
- Develops expertise in operating, teaching and safely monitoring patients in the use of a wide variety or exercise equipment
- Assists with clerical and/or receptionist duties as needed
- Builds productive interpersonal relationships in every encounter
- Understands and follows policy and procedure
- Responsive to current safety and quality initiatives and sustains improvement
- Demonstrates teamwork
- Actively participates in the department

Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions:
- Must be able to see with corrective eyewear and hear clearly with assistance
- Must be able to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist frequently
- Must be able to lift greater than fifty (50) pounds and push up to three hundred (300) pounds frequently
- Potential exposure to blood and bodily fluids and meets OSHA training requirements
Special Demands:
- Sets limits when dealing with angry, hostile, or sometimes verbally or physically abusive patients and families in an attempt to ensure a safe, respectful environment that will support the delivery of care
- Effectively copes and strives for balance when caring for acutely or chronically ill patients and families
