Position Summary
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the buying strategy across owned retail and digital channels, ensuring assortments are optimized for each customer touchpoint while maintaining a cohesive brand experience.
- Develop seasonal and long-range buying strategies aligned with category growth plans, financial objectives, and business priorities.
- Build balanced assortments across core, fashion, and innovation, supported by customer insights, historical performance, and emerging trends.
- Drive assortment segmentation by channel, region, customer behavior, and store clustering to maximize productivity and customer relevance.
- Partner closely with Global Merchandising and Digital teams to support product launches and capitalize on omnichannel opportunities.
- Own channel-level sales performance, gross margin, inventory productivity, and sell-through metrics.
- Partner with Planning to develop Open-to-Buy strategies, receipt flow, inventory depth, and replenishment plans.
- Analyze weekly business performance and react quickly to changing customer demand through in-season buying decisions.
- Identify opportunities to optimize inventory placement across channels while minimizing markdown exposure.
- Lead exit strategies and inventory risk management while protecting brand integrity.
- Partner with Product Development and Merchandising to influence future assortments based on customer insights and business performance.
- Collaborate with Retail Operations to ensure assortments support operational excellence and elevate the in-store customer experience.
- Work closely with Marketing and Visual Merchandising to support product launches, seasonal campaigns, and key commercial moments.
- Partner with Supply Chain to ensure buying strategies are operationally executable and scalable across a growing global business.
- Collaborate with Wholesale and Ecommerce leaders to ensure a cohesive omnichannel product strategy.
- Support new store openings with localized assortment and inventory strategies.
- Develop regional buying frameworks that balance local customer preferences with global brand consistency.
- Continuously refine channel strategies as SKIMS expands into new markets and retail formats.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of buyers across multiple product categories.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
- Establish clear priorities, decision-making frameworks, and performance expectations across the buying organization.
- Champion data-driven decision-making while encouraging entrepreneurial thinking and innovation.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- 10+ years of buying or merchandising experience within a high-growth fashion, apparel, or consumer brand, including significant leadership experience at the Director or Senior Director level.
- Proven success leading buying strategies across multiple sales channels, including owned retail and ecommerce.
- Deep understanding of apparel buying, assortment planning, inventory management, and commercial retail performance.
- Strong analytical capabilities with experience managing large inventory investments and Open-to-Buy strategies.
- Exceptional ability to interpret customer behavior, market trends, and business performance to inform buying decisions.
- Experience supporting rapid retail expansion and international growth preferred.
- Strong cross-functional leadership skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders across Product, Planning, Operations, Marketing, and Supply Chain.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
