We currently have an opportunity for an Environmental Engineer at our Manufacturing Facility in Louisville, KY.

Responsibilities

Reynolds Consumer Products is seeking an Environmental Engineer to lead environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives at our Louisville manufacturing facility. This role serves as the site's environmental subject matter expert and is responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance, identifying and managing environmental risk, and partnering with site leadership to support responsible and efficient manufacturing operations.

Environmental Compliance

• Lead site environmental compliance programs related to air emissions and permits, wastewater, stormwater, hazardous and universal waste, spill prevention, and chemical management.
• Maintain the site's environmental compliance calendar and ensure required inspections, monitoring, sampling, reporting, and recordkeeping activities are completed accurately and on time.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and corporate environmental requirements, including relevant Kentucky and Louisville requirements.
• Manage air compliance activities, including permit-condition tracking, emissions calculations, emissions inventories, VOC reporting, and evaluation of operational changes.

Waste Management

• Oversee hazardous, nonhazardous, and universal waste activities, including waste characterization, labeling, storage, inspections, manifests, vendor coordination, and disposal documentation.

Environmental Reporting & Regulatory Affairs

• Prepare and submit applicable environmental reports, permit applications, and regulatory filings, including EPCRA, Tier II, TRI/Form R, SPCC, stormwater, wastewater, and spill-related requirements.
• Serve as the primary site contact for environmental regulatory agencies and support inspections, information requests, permitting activities, and resolution of compliance findings.

Environmental Risk & Corrective Action

• Investigate spills, releases, permit deviations, exceedances, and other environmental concerns; identify root causes and ensure corrective actions are completed and effective.
• Conduct environmental audits, inspections, and risk assessments; track findings and corrective actions through closure.

Operations & Engineering Partnership

• Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, and site leadership to integrate environmental requirements into day-to-day manufacturing activities.
• Participate in Management of Change, capital-project, and process-change reviews to evaluate environmental impacts and permitting requirements before implementation.

Performance & Sustainability

• Develop, analyze, and communicate environmental performance metrics, compliance risks, and improvement priorities to site and business-unit leadership.
• Drive waste reduction, recycling, resource conservation, sustainability, and other continuous improvement initiatives.

Training & External Resources

• Develop and deliver environmental training and provide technical guidance to employees and leaders.
• Manage environmental consultants, laboratories, waste vendors, and other third-party service providers as needed.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
• 2-4 years of environmental compliance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.  

Preferred

• PE, EIT, CHMM, or similar professional certification.
• Experience in consumer products, packaging, paper, foil, plastics, or high-volume manufacturing.
• Familiarity with ISO 14001 and sustainability reporting programs

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Working knowledge of RCRA, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, EPCRA, SPCC, and applicable state and local environmental requirements. 
• Experience managing air emissions, wastewater, stormwater, hazardous waste, spill-prevention, and environmental reporting programs. 
• Ability to interpret permits and regulations and translate requirements into practical operating controls. 
• Experience working directly with regulatory agencies and supporting environmental audits and inspections. 
• Experience with environmental data management, emissions calculations, compliance calendars, and regulatory recordkeeping. 
• Demonstrated ability to lead corrective actions, manage projects, and influence cross-functional manufacturing teams. 
• Strong analytical, organizational, project management, and written and verbal communication skills.
