Position Overview:
The Store Designer I supports the Real Estate, Construction, and Operations teams by producing and reviewing site plans, interior test fits, and building elevations. This role works directly under the direction of the Director of Design & Architecture and the VP of Design & Pre-Development to transform operational requirements into accurate, brand-aligned architectural concepts. You will also partner closely with external architects, developers, and consultants to ensure project plans meet Dutch Bros quality standards, timeline targets, and intellectual property guidelines.
Key Result Areas:
Design Concepting & Plan Review
Create site plans, interior equipment test fits, and preliminary building concepts based on brand standards and operational needs.
Review architectural plans submitted by external architects, legacy franchisees, and developers to ensure compliance with Dutch Bros Brand Standards, operational workflows, and trademark guidelines.
Support to maintain up-to-date documentation for all standard architectural prototypes and design details.
Project Coordination & Partner Management
Collaborate with outside consultants, vendor partners, and architects to integrate operational changes into building designs efficiently.
Track project review status, provide weekly updates to internal leadership, and ensure submittals adhere to target timelines.
Log and manage the disbursement of Dutch Bros proprietary designs and intellectual property across all active development projects.
Build and maintain positive professional relationships with external vendors, landlords, local municipal officials, and design teams aligned with Dutch Bros core values.
Other duties as assigned.
Continuous Improvement & Industry Alignment
Evaluate construction materials and exterior/interior products for durability, cost-effectiveness, maintenance efficiency, and long-term performance.
Participate in professional industry organizations to monitor emerging design trends and innovate the Dutch Bros built environment.

Job Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in architectural design or space planning within the QSR (Quick Service Restaurant), retail, restaurant, or hospitality sectors.
Knowledge: Solid understanding of building materials, construction techniques, and spatial efficiency tailored to high-volume drive-thru or retail operations.
Technical Competencies:
BIM / Drafting: Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp.
Markup & Collaboration: Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office Suite.
Graphics / Presentation: Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign).
Core Competencies & Soft Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proven ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Proactive problem-solver with a strong team-first mindset.
Location Requirement:
This position is located in Phoenix, AZ and requires four days a week in office (Mon-Thurs) with Fridays as an optional remote day.
Physical Requirements:
In-Office Environment: Must be able to work in a busy, crowded, and loud office with frequent distractions and interruptions
Must be able to collaborate in-person with occasional impromptu in-person meetings
Office Conditions: Adaptability to typical office conditions, which may include exposure to air conditioning, heating, artificial lighting, and varying noise levels
Mobility: Ability to sit, stand, reach, twist, stretch, and work at a desk for long stretches. Must be able to occasionally move or lift office items up to 25 pounds
Hearing Requirements: Hearing must be sufficient or correctable to ensure clear understanding of spoken information, including participating in virtual meetings and phone calls. Use of hearing aids or other assistive devices is acceptable if needed.
Reading and Writing Proficiency: Ability to read and write in English is essential for processing documents, drafting reports, and following up on necessary actions. Proficiency in written communication is required to handle job-related tasks effectively.
Vision Requirements: Vision must be adequate or correctable to perform essential job duties, such as reading documents on a computer screen and using other visual tools. Use of corrective lenses or other measures to meet visual requirements is expected if needed.
Technology Proficiency: Must be proficient in operating a computer and other office productivity tools such as printers, scanners, and collaboration software.
Effective Communication: Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members, clients, and other stakeholders via email, video conferencing, and other in office communication tools.
