Senior Plumbing & Drainage (Fire Protection) Engineer

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Fire Protection Engineer to join our Buildings MEP team in Jakarta. This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer who is passionate about life safety and fire protection design and enjoys leading the delivery of complex fire protection systems across a diverse range of projects.

You will play a key role in delivering fire protection solutions while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and clients. You will also contribute to the development of junior engineers through technical guidance, mentoring, and coaching.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of fire protection engineering packages across all project stages, from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design and construction support.

• Prepare and review engineering calculations, reports, specifications, schedules, and technical documentation.

• Design fire protection systems including automatic sprinkler systems, hydrant systems, hose reel systems, fire pumps, water storage tanks, clean agent suppression systems, and special hazard protection systems.

• Coordinate effectively with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, structural, architectural, and BIM disciplines to deliver integrated design solutions.

• Undertake fire water demand calculations, hydraulic calculations, equipment sizing, and system performance assessments.

• Act as a technical lead on projects, ensuring designs are practical, compliant, and aligned with client requirements.

• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and day-to-day support to junior engineers and BIM designers.

• Review and check design deliverables to maintain high standards of quality and technical excellence.

• Develop and maintain strong client relationships through regular engagement and proactive communication.

• Participate in client meetings, workshops, presentations, authority consultations, and technical discussions.

• Collaborate with regional teams across Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore to deliver projects efficiently.

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, technical innovation, and knowledge sharing within the team.

• Maintain professional development and stay current with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 7+ years' experience in a consulting engineering environment delivering building services projects.
• Strong technical expertise in fire protection and life safety systems design.
• Proven experience leading fire protection design packages on medium to large-scale building projects.
• Sound knowledge of relevant Indonesian and international standards, including NFPA, SNI, and other applicable fire protection codes.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout project delivery.
• Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills in both English and Bahasa Indonesia.
• Proficiency in relevant design and engineering software.
• Possession of, or progress towards, a relevant Indonesian SKK (Sertifikat Kompetensi Kerja) certification in Fire Protection Systems, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent professional engineering accreditation is highly desirable.
• Professional memberships such as NFPA, IFE, PII, or other recognised industry bodies are advantageous.
