Preface

We are seeking an experienced SAP Operations Manager to lead a small SAP team at the Majnoon Oil Field and ensure reliable, controlled, and business-aligned SAP operations. The role is critical to maintaining operational continuity across procurement, inventory, maintenance, finance, compliance, reporting, and wider field execution activities.

SAP is a core business platform for Majnoon. It enables structured procurement, material availability, maintenance execution, financial control, approvals, compliance visibility, and management reporting. The SAP Operations Manager will ensure that SAP remains stable, usable, properly governed, and aligned with practical oil and gas workflows.

Professional Summary

The ideal candidate will have more than 10 years of SAP experience, strong site-facing operational discipline, and proven ability to lead a compact support team in a complex industrial environment. The individual must be able to manage incidents, prioritize business-critical issues, coordinate with corporate SAP and vendor teams, improve user adoption, and maintain strong governance over access, licensing, data quality, and process compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day SAP operations for site-based oil and gas activities, ensuring system availability, stable support, and timely issue resolution.
• Lead the SAP team, allocate work, manage priorities, monitor performance, coach team members, and ensure appropriate support coverage.
• Act as the primary site interface between SAP users, IM / IT leadership, corporate SAP support, vendors, and business process owners.
• Ensure SAP issues are logged, prioritized, investigated, escalated, and closed in line with agreed service levels and operational impact.
• Support SAP user access management, role changes, approval evidence, licence oversight, and segregation of duties considerations.
• Coordinate SAP process alignment with field workflows, reducing workarounds, duplicate data entry, manual reconciliation, and recurring user errors.
• Support onboarding and training for new SAP users, approvers, planners, warehouse teams, finance users, and operational stakeholders.
• Prepare concise leadership reporting covering SAP performance, critical issues, blockers, risks, recurring problems, and improvement actions.
• Maintain and improve SAP operational procedures, support guides, escalation routes, user instructions, and knowledge transfer materials.
• Support integration of SAP with relevant site systems, reporting tools, interfaces, and third-party applications where required.

Required Experience

• Minimum 10 years of SAP experience, including operational support, functional support, SAP service delivery, or SAP team leadership responsibility.
• Experience supporting SAP in oil and gas, energy, engineering, construction, utilities, industrial operations, or comparable large-scale operational environments.
• Proven leadership of small technical or functional teams, including workload planning, performance monitoring, coaching, and service prioritization.
• Strong experience with SAP incident management, problem management, access support, change coordination, escalation management, and service reporting.
• Ability to convert user issues and operational pain points into clear SAP support actions, escalation packs, process improvements, or training interventions.
• Experience working with Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, Warehouse, Maintenance, Operations, Project Controls, HR/time-writing, Compliance, and IT stakeholders.

Technical Skills

• SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA operations experience.
• Working knowledge of SAP MM, PM, and FI/CO modules and their operational dependencies.
• Awareness of SAP Basis, authorizations, roles, user access, licence administration, interfaces, monitoring, and transport coordination.
• Understanding of SAP HANA and/or Oracle database concepts, performance monitoring, reporting extracts, and basic troubleshooting.
• General IT infrastructure, endpoint, network, and service management awareness sufficient to coordinate cross-IT issue resolution.
• Strong MS Office and reporting capability, including issue trackers, service dashboards, action logs, operational reports, and leadership summaries.

Certifications

• SAP Certified Application Associate in a relevant module such as MM, PM, FI/CO, S/4HANA, or SAP business process integration preferred.
• ITIL Foundation or equivalent service management certification advantageous.
• Oil and gas safety, site induction, or industrial operations safety training preferred.
• Project management or team leadership certification is advantageous where the candidate has broader service improvement responsibilities.

KPIs and Success Measures

• Maintain SAP system availability in line with agreed operational service levels, with target uptime of 99.9 percent where technically achievable.
• Ensure critical SAP incidents are acknowledged, prioritized, escalated, and progressed within agreed SLA targets.
• Maintain controlled user access, approval evidence, licence oversight, and compliance readiness.
• Deliver monthly SAP operations reporting covering performance, risks, blockers, open actions, recurring issues, and improvement progress.
• Improve SAP team capability through documented procedures, coaching, cross-training, and knowledge transfer.
• Reduce repeat issues, avoidable workarounds, data quality defects, and manual reconciliation activities through targeted improvement actions.

Reporting Structure

• Reports directly to the Site IT Manager / IM & IT leadership.
• Works closely with Operations and Maintenance stakeholders to ensure SAP supports practical field execution requirements.
• Coordinates with Corporate SAP functional and technical teams for escalations, enhancements, access issues, system updates, and specialist support.
• Collaborates with Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, Compliance, Project Controls, HR/time-writing, vendors, and external support providers as required.

The preferred candidate will combine SAP functional awareness, disciplined service management, and practical oilfield delivery experience. They should be comfortable working directly with users, challenging poor data or weak process discipline, supporting operational priorities, and communicating clearly with leadership. The candidate should be capable of stabilizing daily SAP operations while strengthening local capability, improving documentation, and reducing dependency on informal support arrangements.
