POSITION SUMMARY
The Billing and Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for weekly billing for an assigned customer group as well as monitoring customer receivable activity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Bill invoicing for customers.
- Daily freight bill run.
- Daily allocation.
- Verifies accuracy of billing data, correcting any errors before entering.
- Enter invoices and upload documents online.
- Work over/shorts balance on billing customers.
- Entering breakthrough fuel daily.
- Entering customer deposits.
- Contacts customers to obtain, verify and update account information when necessary.
- Index bill of ladings for truck driver’s trips.
- Monitor customer receivable activity and providing cash application support.
- Recap daily sales with paperwork and balance it against computer system transactions.
- Apply cash receipts to receivables.
- Reconcile accounts.
- Process cash adjustments requests from billing.
- Monitor unapplied cash balances and work with billing/collections to update customer accounts.
- Run and review individual aging summary once a week.
- Cross-trained with some accounting functions and will function as a backup coverage.
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed by Supervisor.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position requires close vision abilities; working on dual computer monitors in an office environment with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk. The essential functions of this job may be able to work remotely only in certain circumstances (i.e. inclement weather or illness related absences) otherwise needs to be in office to index, print, scan, and upload documentation.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Education
- High School education or beyond.
- One or more years of secondary education in accounting is preferred.
Experience
- One or more years of administrative or clerical experience is helpful but not required.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Computer Skills
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- 10-key data entry.
- AS400/TMW.
- Other Requirements
- Ability to type a minimum of 35 wpm.
- Able to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
- Strong organization skills.
- Basic accounting understanding and strong mathematical aptitude.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Detailed orientated.
