Rate of Pay:Band 5: $35.39 – $38.70 per hour (Subject to CUPE 1015 Agreement)
Location:RCMP Detachment
Duties:
Reporting to the Supervisor, RCMP Admin, the primary function of this position is to provide clerical support to the Watch Commander and Members of their watch.

Duties
  • Provide administrative and operational support to the Watch Commander, including the Submissions of court disclosures, completion of electronic disclosure, typing of reports, statements, and outgoing and inter-office correspondence and provide operational support to the watches during active investigation.
  • Prepare court documents including Information, Release Documents, Summons, Subpoenas and prepare court packages from inception to completion.
  • Maintain manual and automated operational and administrative records management systems.  Enter, modify, query, and delete data in systems such as Police Reporting Occurrence System (PROS), Justice Online Information Network (JOIN and JOIN 2.0, Criminal Efile, APIS, Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC)
  • Enter, revise or remove warrants, prohibitions, conditions, stolen vehicles, missing persons and prepares narrative messages on the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC).
  • Provide and request warrant confirmations and dispositions to and from outside police agencies in a timely fashion.  Expediently and accurately obtains, assesses and distributes information from a variety of sources.
  • Transcribes statements for court, and transcription of dictation reports by Members.
  • Complete other related administrative duties given by the Watch Commander and members of the Watch.
  • Liase with Provincial and Federal Crown Prosecutors, Probation Offices, other Law Enforcement agencies and Correctional institutions
  • Complete detailed daily report of the shift for distribution to the next Head Watch Support on shift.
  • Provide guidance, direction and support to the 911 Admin Support employees.
  • Maintain equipment and request supplies or help tickets as required.
  • During critical incidents, provide additional support as required.  Act as an information control center to receive and disseminate information to appropriate persons and the general public. 
  • Provide assistance to the front counter after hours for administrative support to RCMP Members and assists customers at the front counter after hours. 
  • Provide the public with friendly, courteous and professional customer service.

Schedule:The position is office based and is required to work shift work, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of a one year post-secondary certificate in office administration or business administration from a recognized institution.
  • Three years experience working in a police environment, criminal law office, or with the criminal justice system is required.
  • One year working knowledge of the RCMP and Judicial Court, provincial and federal statutes, criminal code and municipal bylaws and experience assisting in court related duties, including compilation of legal documents is required.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with a team, well organized, and committed to effective time management.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to maintain professionalism and converse in-person and through written correspondence with all levels of staff, RCMP, stakeholders and the general public.
  • The proven ability to remain calm and have consistent attention to detail, during stressful circumstances.
  • The ability to multi-task, and work in a demanding, fast-paced environment, is essential.  Must be able to remain calm in high pressure and volatile situations and deal with unexpected incidents calmly and effectively. 
  • Strong computer skills including areas in Microsoft Suite such as Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel are essential.
