Software Engineering Manager

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead engineering teams within the Enterprise Know Your Customer (EKYC) and Financial Crimes Technology organization. This leader will be responsible for driving the modernization of Wells Fargo's KYC platforms, delivering scalable and secure cloud-native solutions, and building high-performing engineering teams. The role combines technical leadership, people leadership, and execution excellence to support critical regulatory and customer onboarding capabilities across the enterprise. The ideal candidate is passionate about engineering excellence, modern software development practices, platform modernization, and building solutions that strengthen Wells Fargo's regulatory compliance and customer experience capabilities.

In this role, you will:

• Lead, coach, and develop high-performing software engineering teams responsible for delivering critical Enterprise KYC and Financial Crimes technology solutions.
• Drive modernization initiatives focused on cloud-native architectures, microservices, APIs, containerization, automation, and platform resiliency.
• Ensure adherence to Wells Fargo Architecture Standards, Security Requirements, and Non-Functional Requirements including scalability, reliability, observability, and performance.
• Partner with Product Managers, Business Stakeholders, Architects, and Operations teams to define and execute technology roadmaps aligned with business priorities.
• Lead the delivery of strategic initiatives supporting Enterprise KYC, Customer Due Diligence (CDD), onboarding, and regulatory compliance capabilities.
• Champion engineering excellence through modern software development practices including Agile, DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and code quality reviews.
• Act as the senior technical representative for the product during cross-functional planning, governance, and delivery activities.
• Identify and remove delivery impediments while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
• Guide teams through application modernization efforts, including migration to cloud-native and container-based platforms.
• Provide technical leadership for system design, architecture reviews, integration strategies, and production stability.
• Manage engineering resources, budgets, workforce planning, talent development, succession planning, and performance management.
• Build and retain top engineering talent through coaching, mentoring, hiring, and career development activities.
• Partner with internal and external technology providers to ensure successful delivery of enterprise solutions.
• Ensure technology risks are appropriately identified, communicated, and mitigated while maintaining regulatory and security compliance.
  

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
• 2+ years of Leadership experience
• 2+ years of leading software engineering teams delivering enterprise-scale applications.
• 2+ years of experience designing and delivering cloud-native or modern distributed application architectures.
• 2+ years of experience with Java-based application development using Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
• 2+ years of experience with container platforms such as OpenShift (OCP), Kubernetes, or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and modern DevSecOps practices.
• 2+ years of experience partnering with business, architecture, security, and operations stakeholders to deliver technology solutions.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience supporting Enterprise KYC, Customer Due Diligence (CDD), AML, Financial Crimes, or Regulatory Operations platforms.
• Experience with FenX/Fenergo platform implementation, configuration, integration, or modernization initiatives.
• Knowledge of customer onboarding, regulatory compliance, and financial services operations.
• Experience modernizing legacy applications into cloud-native architectures.
• Experience delivering large-scale enterprise integrations and API-based solutions.
• Strong understanding of event-driven architecture and distributed systems.
• Experience with OpenShift, Harness, Kafka, and enterprise observability platforms.
• Demonstrated success leading geographically distributed engineering teams.
• Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and executive presentation skills.
• Ability to influence strategic technology direction across multiple organizations.
