The Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA is looking for an enthusiastic and innovative Healthy Lifestyles Director to lead our health and wellness programs and inspire our members to live their healthiest lives. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Healthy Lifestyles Director at the Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA serves others by intentionally welcoming, connecting, and supporting them and inviting them to get involved and give back to the community. He/She directs health and wellness promotion, retention, and program activities, including Active Older Adults programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develops, implements, and manages branch health and wellness programs, complying with all Association standards and safety procedures.
- Establishes relationships with public health, physician, payer communities and other referral networks to enhance awareness of and referrals to YMCA’s Evidence-Based Program.
- Serves as a liaison, ambassador, and advocate for YMCA’s Evidence-Based Programs within public health, physician and payer communities.
- Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises all health and wellness program staff and volunteers; evaluates staff regularly to ensure program quality and consistency.
- Manages department budget to ensure financial stability.
- Monitors daily operations to adhere to all YMCA health and safety standards and policies.
- Maintains accurate records of staff certifications.
- Employs strategies to increase member engagement and member retention.
- Creates and schedules all wellness programming. Performs duties of a fitness instructor and personal trainer as needed.
- Plans, develops, promotes, and implements programs for active older adults that promote physical, mental, and social health.
- Creates an annual schedule of events for active older adults to include but not limited to lunch and learns, mall walks, senior health fair, holiday events, and monthly bus trips.
- Employs strategies to increase member engagement and member retention.
- Develops, produces, and disseminates appropriate program information in order to promote health and wellness to the public and to current members.
- Provides data and reports on assigned programs in support of the planning process of the branch and Association.
- Maintains fitness equipment and facilities, including purchasing recommendations, maintenance and repairs.
- Maintains relationships with staff, volunteers, and community partners; provides staff leadership for the annual fundraising campaign and other committees as assigned.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, physical education, recreation or equivalent or a minim of two years of experience in health/fitness field or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Possess required certifications in group exercise and personal training, or have the ability to obtain these in the first 3 months of employment.
- Two or more years of supervisory and staff recruitment experience in health and wellness preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the recruitment, training, and supervision of staff and volunteers preferred.
- Ability to support the training of fitness staff, including, but not limited to group exercise instructors, personal trainers, and wellness coaches.
- Experience in planning and implementing activities with senior adults preferred.
- Obtain and remain compliant with all certifications and standards assigned by YMCA of the USA and the AMA YMCA.
- Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to make oral presentations.
- Must be organized and detail-oriented.
- Must possess skills to operate standard office and computer equipment, data management, organizational and budgeting skills.
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
- Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- CPR/AED/O2/First Aid certifications and Child Abuses Prevention, Anti-Harassment, Blood Borne Pathogens, Hazard Communication Awareness, and Slips, Trips, and Falls trainings required.
