Peer Recovery Specialist

Boulder Care is hiring a Peer Recovery Specialist for a 100% remote, full-time position. 

We are looking for individuals who:

• Reside in Ohio 
• Have an active peer certification in good standing in Ohio
• Have 2+ years of experience in peer recovery support, including experience navigating opioid use disorder treatment resources and referral processes
• Are available to work full-time, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time

About the role

At Boulder, Peer Recovery Specialists use their lived experience intentionally to support individuals with substance use disorders. You’ll provide independent, recovery-oriented support that is trauma-informed and grounded in harm reduction.

The role requires a strong foundation in peer support principles, sound judgment, and the ability to build meaningful relationships with individuals navigating complex needs and barriers to care. In this work, you’ll support patient autonomy, meet individuals where they are, and help patients identify and pursue recovery goals that are meaningful to them.

Key responsibilities

• Provide individualized peer recovery support to patients with varying levels of need and complexity
• Build sustained, trusting relationships that promote recovery, self-efficacy, and community connection
• Use lived experience to support patients while maintaining clear boundaries
• Help patients establish recovery goals, identify strengths, and develop practical strategies for achieving these goals
• Provide peer support during periods of increased vulnerability, including transitions in care and changes in recovery support
• Connect patients with appropriate community-based resources as needs are identified
• Coordinate effectively with clinical, care management, and community partners
• Assist patients in identifying barriers to engagement and develop peer-based strategies to improve participation and connection to services
• Recognize risk, safety concerns, and situations outside the scope of peer support and escalate as needed
• Collaborate with team leadership to implement projects and initiatives as needed

Requirements for the role

• 2+ years of experience in peer recovery support, including experience navigating opioid use disorder treatment resources and referral processes
• Active peer certification in good standing in the state of residence, where available
• Current certification as a National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (NCPRSS) through NAADAC, or the ability to obtain certification within 9 months of hire
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Nice to have but not required

• Experience working with diverse populations and individuals utilizing non-traditional pathways to recovery
• Demonstrated understanding of barriers faced by communities historically underserved by healthcare systems

Work environment

• This is a fully remote role, but candidates must work and reside in Ohio
• Employees must have a dedicated, private workspace with a lockable door and high-speed internet to support HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality

Expected hours of work

This is a full-time, non-exempt position expected to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time. 

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $24.52 to $28.32 per hour, commensurate with experience. Employees in this position are eligible for the comprehensive benefits package described below.
