Summary
This position is part of a corporate based team that manages the Duke Energy Nuclear Fleet Air Operated Valve (AOV) and Motor Operated Valve (MOV) Programs. This position will focus on ownership of the MOV program of the Duke Energy Fleet supporting the MOV Engineers at each Duke Energy Nuclear Facility. Primary responsibility will be to provide oversight and guidance for all stations in the execution of the needed actions to maintain compliance with all code and regulatory requirements for MOVs in support of the MOV Program. This position will focus on MOVs but may be asked to support some programmatic AOV items.

This position offers a 4-day (10h) workweek (Mon-Thurs) with a hybrid work schedule (at least 2 of 4 days are in the office, the others may be worked at home). This is the specialist level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees at this level solve complex problems, manage work, and provide leadership to others in engineering areas of specialization, with minimal supervision and increased latitude for unreviewed work. Incumbents function in lead roles providing guidance to others. They are also expected to have advanced skills and have the ability to work independently. Progression to this level is typically restricted on the basis of business need.
Individual will be required to pass site security access requirements including General Employee Training, Radiation Worker Training, Security Clearance checks, and subject to the site’s Fitness for Duty Program. Periodic travel will be required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical lead for the fleet with respect to application of MOV code and regulatory requirements
Administration/Ownership of corporate MOV program documents and Fleet Procedures
Review of site MOV program document revisions
Preparation/Checking of MOV calculations
Review and approval of MOV Diagnostic Test Traces
Owner of budgeting, interface, and required updates for Fleet MOV Software
Fleet representative for industry MOV working groups
Review and disposition industry OE
Lead for the fleet MOV Working Group
Some support of Outages across Nuclear Fleet. Outage support typically shared amongst MOV qualified individuals across the fleet
Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of complex problems in area of expertise with the ability to visualize long-term results and assess impacts on a system-wide basis
Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities where only limited standardization exists; handles differing situations which require searching for solutions within area of expertise
Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches with the ability to conduct analysis and recommend process enhancements and standards relative to area of assignment
Conducts engineering and related studies with full technical responsibility for planning and coordinating complex projects; applies extensive technical expertise to manage projects and disseminate knowledge to enhance the organizational unit's competitive position
Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures; demonstrates ability to analyze and recommend enhancements to business processes and develops standards relevant to area of assignment. Keeps abreast of new developments, technologies procedures and equipment.
Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Maintains accurate records and files
Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally
Coaches and mentors other engineering and non-degreed engineering professionals
Effectively communicates with all levels of management in a professional manner

Basic/Required Qualifications
The incumbent must meet the minimum ANSI requirements for this position identified within the scope of Nuclear Operating Fleet Administrative Procedure AD-LS-ALL-0011, Confirmation of Regulatory Guide 1.8 Personnel Qualifications

Nuclear Engineer III
Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
A Master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. engineering degree
Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience
1 year of nuclear power plant experience
Senior Nuclear Engineer
Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or state registration as a Professional Engineer
A Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience, or 5 years of engineering experience AND state registration as a Professional Engineer
1 year of nuclear power plant experience
Preferred Qualifications
Experience as AOV, MOV engineer
Experience with AOV/MOV setup calculation software (KVAP/MIDAS)
Experience/previous qualification with EPRI Performance Prediction Calculations
Experience analyzing AOV/MOV Test traces (Quiklook, PGNTest, MIDAS, SuperTrend)
Experience in the utility industry
Experience with ASME Code with respect to the implementation of MOV and AOV programs.
Registered Professional Engineer
Previous engagement with industry user groups for AOVs/MOVs
Experience and knowledge of other AOV/MOV software
Proficient in principles of project management.
Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations.
Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of customers in all levels of an organization

Working Conditions
Typically, an office environment with some work on site at a Nuclear Power Plant facility
On site work required during qualification process
Some shift work during Nuclear Unit outage time periods
Hybrid Mobility Classification – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees must live within a reasonable commute to their designated Duke Energy facility, not greater than 50 miles one way. Employees are expected to report to their assigned Duke Energy facility as required and directed by their manager, on average 3 full workdays per regular workweek
On Site Work Location can reside at any Duke Energy Nuclear plant or at the corporate office in Charlotte, NC based on applicant preference
