Purpose
Student Associates serve as the front-line representatives for the Student Support team within Texas Student Experience. This team includes Student Outreach and Support (SOS), Horns Helping Horns (HHH), UT Outpost, Legal Services for Students (LSS), and Off-Campus Living Resources.
Student Associates provide exceptional customer service to students, families, faculty, staff, and community members while helping connect students with university resources. They assist with office operations, respond to phone calls and questions, maintain confidentiality, and connect students who may be experiencing personal, academic, financial, legal, housing, or other challenges to support structures.
Because Student Associates may be among the first university representatives to interact with students experiencing significant personal, financial, academic, or mental health concerns, successful candidates must demonstrate maturity, professionalism, discretion, and the ability to remain calm and supportive during difficult conversations. Student Associates receive extensive training and are not expected to provide counseling or case management; however, they play an important role in gathering information, connecting students with resources, and ensuring urgent concerns are promptly routed to professional staff members for follow-up.
All training necessary will be provided.
