Job Description
Develops relationships with new employers to locate and develop off campus jobs /internships part-time or full-time, for either for profit or nonprofit employer, for students.
Advises and guides undergraduate and graduate students regarding applied work experiences, such as internships, co-ops, part-time jobs, and/or volunteer opportunities
Collaborates with the LSU New Orleans Career Services, faculty/staff, and employers regarding services that facilitate students in their part-time job, internship, and/or coop search
Assists students with resume writing, interview skills-building, and other job search strategies
Plans and organizes on-campus recruitment, coordinates job fair activities, and the publication of all JLD and recruiting/promotional materials
Develops materials and teaches experiential employment workshops, classes, and special programs regarding work experience opportunities (i.e. resume preparation, interview skills, business etiquette and communication, soft-skills development, networking, career fair orientations, workplace values, and job search strategies, etc.).
Maintains a current database of all employers and job listings
Maintains annual earnings records, job titles, and number of students placed in part-time jobs and experiential learning. Follow up with employers who do not provide this information voluntarily and/or readily.
Provides quarterly progress reports to supervisor
Assists with maintaining the Career Services website
Manages departmental marketing and social media efforts
Attends departmental staff meetings
Assist Alumni on all professional levels and various backgrounds with resume writing, interviewing skills, job search strategies, networking, social media and career guidance.
Co-manage Career Fairs of over 200+ organizations, twice on an annual basis. The positions at this event include part-time jobs, full-time jobs, internships, cooperative education, volunteering and other career opportunities for graduating students and alumni.
Coordinates information and schedules interview sessions with employers that are seeking to fill internships, management trainee roles and career opportunities for graduating students
Other duties as necessary and assigned to support the departmental goals
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree.
One year of work experience.
Strong interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and excellent public relations skills.
Experience with creative workshop presentations.
Experience with information technology database management.
Desired Qualifications:
One or more years experience working in an experiential education office, university career office, or a related position with a human resource, recruitment, or career preparation focus.
One or more years of work related experience managing social media platforms and creating posts.
Human services or career counseling experience.
Experience in teaching and/or marketing.
Expertise in working with a wide variety of student populations.
Demonstrated ability to work as a team member.
Ability to multi-task, goal oriented and results driven, with strong organizational, problem solving, and project management skills.
